Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

a little motor tech/update from Eddie @ BROOD.....

something tells me this guy knows his shizz!!!!

step one:

he wound 30t single with a 20 awg. wire using a 4mm skewed blank with a 10mm com.

the comm was then welded using silfos 15. the armature was then cleaned and dipped in epoxy using vacume pressure impregnation, then baked to cure.

the winding was engraved on the shaft and then the armature was precision ground to a matching diameter for a perfect airgap. the armatures were also measured for a precise match of inductance, resistance and comm timing, as well as the armatures being prebalanced before winding and the shafts checked for straightness:twisted:

I can't wait for you to get these new motors. Just make sure you leave your old ones laying out in a very conspicuous place. :flipoff:

Or has he learned his lesson from having so many things disappearing and then finding them on your cars :mrgreen:

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

I was reading all the talk a page back about the upper link mount bushing. I have been running Avid ceramics in that location on a stock upper link mount for a while now. It has been very durable on a heavy throttle finger with 35t Broods. Just another option for those who dont want to run bushings. Ceramics were 5 bucks a piece.

im running the stock bearing with no problems with the stock upper link mount with no problems

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

the 3.5 bodiless preorder info posted here

please take the time to read updated first post with all the pricing and ordering info in it, i dont think my p.m. box can handle any more:lmao:

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Ouch. Heavy price for such a light chassis:shock:

I'm gonna go donate blood and sperm and I'll PM you when I save up enough"thumbsup"

Seriously though, sems like a fair price for such an outstanding platform.

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

more motor goodness

first the armatures were epoxy balanced and died green to prevent rust.

here are the completed end bells, consisting of team heat sinks for better cooling and a lower profile.

IMG951224.jpg

aluminum timing rings for weight savings.
IMG956055.jpg

and now the lathed KR cans.....

the theory here is to reduce weight and gain some clearance. the mod will effect magnetism a bit so in theory the motor will gain more power and rpm, while getting even smoother than they already are due to the decreased magnetic field.

downside is there should be a little torque loss, and reduced drag brake, we wont know how much until they are ran but we are hopefull that the effects will be minuscule, and non existent in the lighter cars.

IMG956276.jpg

stock on the right
IMG952344.jpg

brushes and springs fully installed with lightweight spring posts and some super motor build tricks that i cant divulge:shock:.
IMG_1451.jpg

all this has netted a savings of 23 grams per motor!

i am extremely proud to be a part of TEAM BROOD. Eddie knows his stuff and it is very apparent with these latest beasts he has created. he is definitely pushing the envelope on custom motor building and available options"thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

That's some badass voodoo right there.

Voodoo. Sounds like good name for those:mrgreen:

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

:shock::shock:

23g per Motor is great news, hope they have enough drakbrake.
Looking forward to see them on the Rocks on Friday:twisted:

That means you are know at 4.36 LB??"thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

This is such an amazing thread! Keep up the great work man"thumbsup"

Re: Krawl's "SECRET AGENT"

it will fly:mrgreen:
polished stacks add RPM
QM add RPM
aluminium timing ring add RPM
thinned can add RPM
and the laydown brushes too

i would like to know how they work in heavy binds

Time to throw you cans on the lathe and turn down the arm stack for some air gap. I'm sure you can find the time for some Ti tuning rings too.
