You pretty much nailed it on the shocks it looks like.
Running a set up like this keeps the rigged sucked down and it will do some things amazingly well. MG200 turned me on to the idea after watching him do an impossible side hill that I immediately bailed off of with my first class 3.
The short outer springs in the rear assist with a "bump" scenario. With a low slung droop car a "bump" is almost always necessary on a break over. The partial spring set up lets it absorb the hit much better and doesn't feel as dead.
