JimK's Krawler Kourse

I expanded the front right rock garden and put in a nice big birch log as a border of sorts. You can actually climb up on the far end of the log and ride on top of it.

I added some dark grey limestone screenings to the path down the middle. I like the contrast of the dark grey.

Still some tweaking to do and some more rock and stone to be added here and there but it's pretty close to being done. I'm really happy with how it's turning out so far. :)

Forgot to mention that I lucked into another free pile of rocks the other day. May use it to change up one of the elevated areas and turn it into a really gnarly rock section?

It was a beautiful mild sunny day today so I spent pretty much all afternoon outside fiddling around.

I got our pond up and running first and then set my sights on the Krawler Korner. Water's a bit cloudy but it'll clear up in a day or two.

Brought the new rocks in from the driveway and sorted them out. Some nice big chunks there! "thumbsup"

Added a small log and a couple rocks out front so we can drive from one rock garden to the other. If you pick your line just right you can actually drive along on top of the big birch log.

I made a "cliff " along the fence at the back of the rear elevated area.

Here it is before the changes.

Here's the new cliff. Nicely challenging and you can drive up on it from both ends. This added a couple fun new lines to this section of the course.

Here it is after the changes. I was able to piece these big chunks in tightly together and make a nice mountainous passage across the back. Changed up the middle area a bit also.

For the most part I think the Kourse is pretty much done for now. I'm sure there will be some tweaks and changes here and there but I'm gonna call it good for now. Time to enjoy it and have some fun with my little trucks. There are so many fun lines packed into this little area and every time I look at it I see new spots to try out.

My Gladiator making it's way up the rocks and along the log.

Headed across the treacherous mountain pass. Need to clean that orange paint off the side of the mountain.

I thought this back corner was a little empty in the middle so I made me a rock pile to fill it up a little.

It fills this area nicely and you can drive over it from all different angles.

The Little White Bronco seemed to have fun on the new rock pile. No problem getting up the back side.

Took me a few attempts to get up on top of this rock. Rear drivers tire kept getting hung up in that gap. Once I finally made it up there I high centered and wasn't able to drive over the top of it. I'll keep trying from different angles....I love a good challenge.

Made a couple changes to the Krawler Kourse today. I added a ramp up to the top section that is also a little tunnel

A view from another angle. The ramp looks sort of flat in these pictures but it's a ramp....honest!

A peek from the back side.

Here's the Gladiator doing a little test run. The ramp looks a bit more rampy in the shot.

I also added wood ledge/bridge that runs around the back of the kourse attached to the fence.

I started by attaching some wooden brackets to the fence so I had a place to build the ledge.

I built the flat section and mounted it to the fence and then I built the ramp section and fixed it in place.

Made a couple more brackets and attached it to the other side of the fence at a slightly higher height.

Same thing on this side, I built the flat section first and then the ramp down came next. I decided not to put slats across this ramp to make it a little different.

Next I joined the two sections together with a couple of wood strips. Not sure if I'm going to leave the two strips or put some slats on that section?

I didn't have much time to test it before getting chased in by the rain but I did get a few runs in. It turned out pretty good and it's a lot of fun. The transitions from the flats to the ramps are pretty tight so you need to get lined up just right.

Heading up the overpass on the way to the ledge for another pass. You can see the rain drops starting to speckle the rocks.

d5f4b6b3ef6241993ba15ea14b7a452d.jpg

I added a few big stones here to make another way to get on and of the bridge.

887c5b0a6c966676e32037315032f8f0.jpg

A couple stones here too for a little smoother transition off of the stump. I could drive up it no problem but I kept going end over end when I tried to drive off of the stump.

The original log bridge up to the elevated section passes under and behind the new bridge.

Krawler Kourse is looking better with each new post!

I like the "sky bridge" you've added to the fence. A good lookout point for the little rigs! Maybe add some rope or cable to cross in a section to give them little drivers in them little rigs a butt-puckering experience!:ror:

Thanks Brian. Sky bridge....I like that! :) I was originally thinking of a rope/suspension section joining the two sections across the corner area but rushed to get this done before the storms moved in. I may end up doing that in the near future if time permits.

Thanks again for the kind words.
