Ittybitty's DLux Ultra

Yeah... those capacitors are kind of a oversight. i have a pair of the mini's to smash but haven't decided how i want to attack it yet because of their awkward positioning. A laydown cap or even a button style cap would have made much more sense.

Maybe someone who isn't me can ask JRH the specs on the cap and find a suitable replaement for them.

Truck is looking really good though"thumbsup"

Aren't the specs printed on them?

The pics aren't the best I know. I smashed them 180* from each other with cap on the lower one facing the chassis. Each ESC is shrink wrapped individually and then finally one large piece holding them together.

Why is the front brace curved? Is it to allow more up travel on the uppers?

Its hard to explain but easy to imagine. If the brace were straight, it would really mess up the way the carbon bends. Basically its what tapers the front of the chassis like it does.

You know one of the things I don't like about most chassis around lately is how far you have to lay down the rear shocks. If you want to stand them up you have to shorten them totally (difficult) or shorten the travel. And with big bores you don't have much travel to lose.

This chassis looks to have addressed that pretty well in back and in front.

Youre absolutely right about the shock positioning. I think there's two reasons for the bent brace. First, it helps to keep the head of the screws flush with the plate as well as the mating surface of the brace flush with the plate so there isn't any additional stress being placed on things. Second, it could provide a little more link clearance.

It's pretty cool actually. As itty says above, it keeps the faces flush in a way that a shorter brace just wouldn't allow.

I went out to grab a burrito for lunch today and saw this. I couldn't resist posting Ryan's new avatar.:ror:
Sorry for the thread jack Ryan, but this was too good!

Can you post a pic of the body panels?

I haven't messed with them much yet, but here's what they look like before paint...

I had a chance to hit some natural rocks today instead of my rock pile here at the house. This isn't the best location because most of the rocks are boulders as big as some houses. The don't offer much in the way of good transitions, technical climbs, etc. but hey...they're rocks 8) The other thing about them is they're covered in moss, lichens, and small grit that robs you of traction when you need it most. All in all it makes for a good time

I got lazy and didn't bother cutting myself out of the clips so ignore the idiot running around in the woods chasing rc cars

I need a GoPro or something like that to attach to my radio...the cell phone wasn't happy shooting into the sun and being zoomed in a bit.

Looks great Ryan! I am glad youre liking it and I cant wait to see your results with it.

Just checkin but does your side panels meet the 1" vertical and 1" horizontal and 3.5 sq in total. Its hard to tell in pics "thumbsup"

They do, they are actually big as I personally dont like running on the edge of being legal, just to nick the panel and next thing you know, youre not legal.

They are well over 3.5sq in and have 2 measurements over 1".

FYI, panels dont need "1" vertical and 1" horizontal". They just need to measurements over 1" anywhere on the panel. Either way, these panels actually do have 1" vertical and 1" horizontal. "thumbsup"

▪ 2.1.5.4 - All panels (roof, hood, and sides) must have at least 2x measurements greater than 1", and a minimum of 3.5 square inches of exposed solid surface area.

Nice climb. Definatley liking dlux's new chassis.

Thanks...this chassis climbs better than anything I've had before. I might have gone through an entire battery yesterday just messing around on the steepest sections I could find. I'd get half way up and yank the trigger to see how it reacted...always stayed settled "thumbsup"

Nice video. Forget the climb. ...I like the side hill.

Let's see.

Get to work. You have some more pictures to shoot:mrgreen:

I realized last night that while at work today I would only be 30 miles from where we're having our comp this weekend...so you know what that meant...PRERUNNING
