Harley's LS Hero Rock Bouncer

Stand the steering servo up and put it into the oil pan. Then steer from behind the knuckle. Then you can put a faux hydo cylinder on the front of the axle.

I was thinking of a bell crank style before but with the servo further back in the chassis. I'm thinking that his truck may spend a lot of time with you looking at it's belly is the thing.

Well, if you want it to look scale upside down then I guess you have a pretty good setup. :ror:

No bellcrank, I agree with you that there are issues with that.
I was thinking more like how kenworthit did the steering on his Wraith style bronco build but with the servo centered and set further back.

That's a solid looking setup.

I did look at standing the servo up. I was concerned about being able to hide the servo though. That was when I chose to lay it down, thinking I could put a radiator above it to help distract from the look of it.

Here is a picture of the servo standing up.

Compared to laying down.

I like this idea. Mount that servo in the oil pan, use a really long servo horn and just run a drag linkk to the back side of one of the knuckles and then make a fake hydro steer system. Ive done it before. It would make it look more scale, bouncers run their radiator behind the seats.

Steel long side tube, dinky mount, make a skid and mount a faux ram there also to hide the servo, or take a Proline faux winch and cut and glue to the servo to look like a sick down winch. Could even run a cable out of it attached to the frame to prevent droop.
You know the steering will be accurate and reliable.

Hmmm, I kind of like that idea.

That is a real good idea. Might use that one for my 1.9 Wraith Clay. "thumbsup"

Clays seems like the best, reliable, simple setup. "thumbsup"

With a custom steel tube, you could go one step further and cut the servo down into the tube like what we did on Berg axles to really hide it and maximize clearances as well.

I think that sounds like a plan. Clay...I'll send you a PM :ror:

You can do that as well, probably enough so it's no higher than the diff. Give you a little more up travel as well possibly.
This was kind of a trial and error situation I had been wanting to do for months and finally had a build to do it on. There are more pics in the Dinky S Link thread of clearance with the tie rod. Also powered it up yesterday and its smooth with full throw.
I just love having all the weight low and nothing having to be put in the wheels.
This will probably be one of my new favorite setups as it frees up so much under hood room for other electronics or scale features.

I spent some time looking at the front end. I'm rethinking the idea of the Currie Axles. I think I may go with modified stock style VP housings to do the modifications to. The real rig runs 14B axles anyway so maybe it's for the best.

I'll think about it more tomorrow.

My buddy has a bouncer he's building with a beefed up 5.7l hemi. Off topic I know but there is at least one lol

Yep there are a few mopar bouncers out there. They are more or less just general crawlers though. I saw a guy build a small bouncer chassis from cherokee drivetrain and tossed a 5.7 in it. Was very affordable way to go
