Guns for under $200

There is no such thing as better than iron sites. Shooters have forgotten how to actually aim. With iron sites you dont worry about fogging, a drop wont break them and you can get on target allot faster.

I normally really like iron sights. It really depends what ranges your shooting at. I plan to either buy or make a scope mount so it can be removed easily so I can switch between the two.

Here you go OP. In your price range too.;-)
Oh wow. Do you own one? I've seen a few at my local gander mtn. Most girls I know would never shoot a pink gun. I'm suprised they sell enough to keep making them in pink. I guess theres always someone who would want it though.

I'm glad someone mentioned the Mausers.. I had forgotten all about that possibility.

I'm not up to date with what's out there at the moment.. But if you can track one down the Yugo M48 or more likely the M24(I think? has straight bolt to the M48's curved down bolt handle) is a great deal. I got one pretty much brand new unissued for $210 hand picked but it was quite a while ago.. WAYYY more refined than a Mosin but so totally worth it. The Mauser action is after all, the grand daddy to pretty much all modern bolt actions to some degree.

I think this is the one I saw at gander a few years back for around $110. I absolutely love mausers. I just can't find any in my price range. I think the cheapest I found was right about $200. It seems like the k98 are always alot higher priced the. Other Mausers but that's probly because of the history behind it. That's all I could think of. I was a little worried about Yugo or anything other than original German mausers thinking it wouldn't be as good of a rifle but then I don't know much about mausers as it is. I'm going right now to do some research an see if I can find any in my price range

Searched google for any Yugo mausers for sale. Found a few for around $150 but the bids will end in a few days. To late for me to have a chance. If anyone has a good site that may have some for under $150 please share. Or any bolt action mausers. I would love to have a k98 but any Mauser will do

How about you spending a little more time saving cash. $300 for the rifle and $100 for a start on ammo is a much better price range for something that will be reliable.

A decent scope can be had for about $150, wont be the worlds best but will be clear and accurate. For anything really good your going to be looking at $500+. Keep in mind what recoil will do to optics and you need some built for your rifle.

THIS! Actually, I'd recommend you attend one of these events before you buy a rifle. Most shoots that I have been to have had loaner rifles. This will give you a more accurate idea of what you may be after and it will teach you a good deal about our heritage! "thumbsup"
And they are FREE for you since you are still under 21! No excuses!!

I'm sure there is an event close to you.

** Edit - Just looked for you. They have an event coming up on Sept 8th & 9th that is probably less than an hour away from you. It'll be well worth your time to attend!

All of my daughters guns are pink. I bought her a pink BB Gun, and the pink Cricket. When she out grew the kid stock, we started looking for a laminate stock to replace it. She picked a pink/purple laminate. Currently have a deal with her on this years grades. She makes honor roll she gets a Walther P22 in pink. She also spotted a pink laminate Remi 870 in 20ga she is pestering me about now. Laser etched on the stock it say's "shoot like a girl.... if you can!"

When she picked pink for her guns I asked her why, she told me "because guys wont ask to shoot a pink gun" :lmao:

Definitely save some cheddar for better optics. The recoil will rattle the zero outta anything sub par with every round sent down range. As far as iron sites vs. optics...optics have their place in the world & I use em but trust irons with my life.

Just an FYI on using the mosin for home defense....the safety sucks....bad....I would never leave a loaded mosin in my house....

I picked mine up for like 80 bucks on sale for what its worth...kicks like a dammed mule and has a high giggle factor...other then that it usually sits around....

I would agree with a .22lr but if you made up your mind on a mosin, go for it but remember that if you shoot at someone with a 7.62x54r round, it will probably go through your neighbors house as well if you live in a residential neighborhood....

Rguns has k98 barreled actions for $210... figure $20 shipping to an ffl and $20 transfer fee. Then you need a good stock ( which I happen to have a new synthetic I want gone). Stocks go for about $75 for a nice but cheapy.

Haha. I wish you knew how long it took me to save the $120 I have now. Working for less than minimum wage and still having to pay bills is not fun.

I found full rifles for under that. Probly not the best quality though but if I can find one at a local gun shop I will be able to inspect it for flaws

The quality of the Yugo M48 is just fine. In some ways it's probably better than a war time K98 due to the Germans scrambling to make them whiile getting bombed into oblivion. :lmao:

The M48's were all made in the early 50's if I remember right on German equipment. They aren't a true K98 length action either.. Just a little shorter. For example, many K98's were rechambered in 30-06 after WWII here in teh states, but the 30-06 is too long for the M48 action. It's perfect for the 8x57mm though. 8)

Just got back from the keys yesterday and today made a bunch of calls to all the local gun shops. Only 1 had any mosin nagants. So off I went and came home with this.

.
Paid a little high at $158 but it was better than having to pay for shipping and then having to wait. You may have noticed the hex receiver. Luckily the people at the gun shop did not know that the hex receivers can go for almost double or sometimes triple the price of the standard round receivers. So I got a good deal there. Mine is a 1934 so chances are it wasn't used in the war but you never know. The quality of the wood and the fact that it has very little flaws seems to suggest it was not used in the war but that's ok with me. I got 20 rounds of surplus ammo basically for free. The salesman threw it in there which was cool. It only cost $6 anyways but that's still $6 less I had to spend. I'm going to put off shooting until I can get a cleaning kit. The ones they had at the gun shop were a little pricey. I also have a problem with where I can shoot at. Most of the ranges in my city won't allow rifles and the only one that does charges about $20 a day to shoot. I have so friends with some property out of the city limits though so I should be able to shoot for free. Thanks for looking and I may put up some videos of me shooting it once I go.

Oh ya dude. I've been around Guns and shooting since I was a kid so I'm well aware of the precautions that I need to take. I've known some people that have been killed by not being safe and keeping it loaded in his house. Then another one of my buddies blew a whole in his kitchen counter with his shotgun. Also by keeping it loaded. I will never keep this gun loaded and it came with a lock that will be on it at all times.
