How do you improve a Harley? Install a Briggs & Stratton engine! :lmao:

I've never had a B&S motor that leaked oil, so it is already an upgrade.

I've never understood why the HD guys used to say "If it doesn't leak oil then it's NOT a Harley!" like it was some kind of badge of honor. That is when someone has crossed the line from "enthusiast" to "blind fan-boi". :roll:

The Briggs motor(s) in my Ariens snowblower is a raging piece of shit. The first motor locked up when one of the plastic fill plugs backed itself out and proceeded to pump the crankcase dry. Fortunately the dealer was able to get it warranteed through Ariens when I showed him that this plug was behind the starter and wasn't even accessible and was barely visible without a mirror, so it sure as hell wasn't because I just didn't reinstall it. The numerous plastic fill plugs on the new motor also kept loosening on their own. After I caught it pumping oil out the side of one of them, I drilled holes through them and wired them all shut. The new motor also leaked oil from one of the metal plugs that was cross threaded into the bottom of the block. :roll: It was cross threaded badly enough that I couldn't get it to thread in properly. I didn't have time to drill & helicoil it, so I plastered the plug full of RTV and reinstalled it cross threaded. Fortunately over many years it's managed to not leak. Well, not from that plug anyway. This thing leaks enough oil to wear a Harley badge. :lmao:

I've heard that newer Briggs engines aren't what they used to be. That's sad because growing up my gokarts were powered either by Briggs or Tecumseh engines and I never killed one.


Challenger

That's funny, but I do love the Challengers. They are still the sexiest of the retro-muscle cars.
