Food/Cooking

That's just chopped up white fish formed into a blob. Little steamed carrot on top, dip in horseradish...

Got a new grinder and tamper to go with the espresso maker. The tamper has some real heft to it at 1#.

Watching a pretty cool documentary on msnbc about food waste in our country and the world. 40% of the food produced here is thrown out. Not just by us, the consumer, but the growers, the stores, the restaurants, and us. Pretty crazy. A couple on here is vowing to live on just discarded food and by purchasing only expired fruits and veggies. At first it was a little hard but then they had so much food, they let friends come and fill bags up instead of grocery shopping. They only spent $33 so far. Pretty crazy!

I spent 17 bucks on a bit of beef from the butcher.
Got two nights of casserole, plenty of beef jerky which
was marinated and smoked, and
a fist size chunk of beef i brined and smoked.

Good for a week as far as lunches go and plenty of drinking snacks.

Best 17 bucks ive spent.

Moral of the story- Get a smoker.

we have a local spice shop that is very comparable to penzeys. little spendy but definitely worth it.

I caught a microwave on fire. Yes. I was attempting to boil water for top ramen. There WAS water in the microwave safe glass cup... It only ran for about 12 seconds before it start to smoke, and at about 13 seconds, caught on fire.

The fire department politely asked me to never attempt to cook anything again. Which I had no objection to...

I never did get to eat that ramen packet. Someone broke into the house within a few days and they stole my coin collection, about $5 in spare change, a $20 from my dad's dresser, two cups of top ramen, and some of my dad's old, nasty T Shirts.

Treated myself to some taco truck today. Spicy pork tacos and a beef cheeks burrito. Good stuff

There's a good taco thing on Thrillist right now. I think for my party that everyone is invited to, btw, taco buffet. Sound good? Who's coming?

Better beer. Okay. Come.

Hunt, I will if you're coming up here. Serious.
