First crawler build in 6 years

I’m a touring car racer. But I’ve had crawlers in the past. Last one being a Losi comp crawler. A few of my friends have recently gotten back into crawling. So of coarse I had to get one.
I chose to get the Raw builders kit. I planned to keep it mostly stock. That didn’t last long. Only thing left from the kit is the frame rails and tranny case.

Switched out all my link ends with Traxxas 5347 link ends and also swapped out the plastic balls with Vanquish brass ones. What a difference no slop at all.

The 5347 link ends are a little to short for the steering links so I used 5525 ends and cut to length.

Yeah I always like to try something different. But in stock form she would get hung up on everything. So that’s why I had to put her under the knife [emoji1]. Now she can crawl with the best of them.

Finally settled on a body. Went with a Proline Cherokee body. I know there’s plenty of them out there. But I trimmed it my way to get it extra low.

After watching a couple of reviews on Youtube I was a little leery on getting one. But having had good results with my other Hobbywing ESC's. I went ahead and got one. After the black Friday deal and my Amain rewards points I got it for dirt cheap. If I didn't like it I could sell it and make a little money.
That being said I am very happy with it. Before I fired it up I installed the latest firmware. I heard the old one had some issues.
The low end is very smooth no stall at all. I mainly crawl slow technical type courses so it works for me. I did have to setup the ESC setting's to where I liked it. I can post my settings if you like.
The only thing that I do not like is lack of initial punch. It has punch it just has a lag. Iv'e tried different setting but it still lags a little.
The 2300kv motor is not fast but good enough for trailing which I don't do. It has a good amount of torque which is what I prefer for crawling.

Instead of starting a new thread I’m going to post my new build here.
The latest craze in my area is a lite weight class 1 size tire rig with insane HP. I’m going to try and attempt to build one. I want to keep it under 3 and a half pounds.
Starting with a Team GSPEED V2 chassis and a Raw Builders Kit.
I got it all mocked up just figuring out what to order. I will be using the one piece axles that’s all I know so far.
Any help with a lite weight rig is much appreciated. Never built one before.

Haven’t posted much lately. Waiting for parts for the lite-weight build. My Dlux Ham Berger transmission came in. Was able to install it. But that’s it.

I'm working on the lightweight build concept too but in more of a C2 style. I went with the Brazin G10 chassis and Dlux trans then 3D printed my own bumpers and sliders, that whole setup only weights about 2 oz more than a bare set of Axial rails. It is a different sort of fun trying to cut weight to the bare minimum than the typical 22 lb all brass truck rolling around these days.

The thing I found that can widely vary in weight are tires. For example, PL Hyrax with PL 2 stage foams were about 2 oz less per than the Voodoos (with no foam) I planned on running. That is 1/2 pound of weight just based on tire choice.

Also, there is a bunch of weight to be saved with electronics. Switching the servo and ESC to something with a plastic case could save quite a bit of weight. Also since the truck is going to be so light, it will be easier on the battery so a smaller pack could be used and runtime will still be respectable. Buying new electronics has a pretty low weight reduction per dollar spent return but it is something to look at if you maximized everything else.
