I stopped by a LHS today, just to look around and see what's new when the manager showed me this new(ish?) RC vehicle, scaled at 1/18th, that was just cool looking. RTR for about $100. 4 different bodies, all on the same chassis.

I was interested but wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience with them?

Dromidas are pretty tough for a mini. the motors tend to burn up on the brushed version if they run through a lot of grass. there's a big tips and tricks thread on ultimate rc from one of the guys that works for hobbico.

I have a few of the Fast Lane 1/16th-ish scale WJ bodies, I've been wanting to do a decent RC chassis for a nice, small scaler. I saw the tires for these Dromida cars and purchased a set. They actually fit the scale of the Jeep body really well, but the tiny 8mm hex drive was going to be a headache. I was thinking about buying a complete vehicle, just to have for parts/electronics but then realized that these are go-fast vehicles. Not sure it would even be worth using/modifying any of the drive train parts.

From what I've seen and researched they are one of the better go fast mini options, but you want the brushless version. I was going to buy one of these, but ended up with Traxxas 1/16 Slash 4x4 and love it! I added all the optional parts that I would want on top of BL Dromida and was almost at $200, that is price of the Mini Slash brushed (only 1/16 Revo and Summit come with brushless) so I bought it and it's pretty good on brushed. I wanted more efficiency, lower cg, so I bought complete Traxxas BL setup off Ebay, then sold my completed brushed setup...very happy with it now. I also looked at LaTrax SST which is pretty nice, but decided it would not hold up to the power and speed I was going to put in it.

EDIT: All the Tower Hobbies returned/scratch and dent Dromida is prolly newbs who bought it and expect it to be maintenance free and able to run into a brick wall and keep going. :ror: ;-) Great way to piece together nice car/truck and have plenty of parts. However, ime the Traxxas design, quality and support (stock replacement and aftermarket) swayed me to the 1/16 Slash 4x4.
