DLUX Swamp Squatch

Erik is the man! He has a new output and cup on his way to me so I can resume testing. By this weekend I should have my wraith fully refreshed for my son to take it over too. Then we can go drive together "thumbsup"

While waiting on the USPS I started examining things and believe I found the culprit of the failed e-clip. With the DLUX ofna setup being 1:8 scale goodies, the output cups are larger than the stock ones. Also the RPM arms do not have the channel in them that the stock arms do, and are much thicker at that location.

Put two larger pieces in the same space with out clearancing something and... well... It looks the the output caught a good chuck of the arm.

Solution: carve a channel like the stock arms have to allow clearance "thumbsup"

My new output and cup will show up today, unfortunately the new e-clips won't be here until Monday and my LHS has none

Someone got a little happy with the Dremmel....

I don't want to have the same break again, Needed to make some room! That was an obvious sign of outdrive cup biting into the arm.

I'm not worried about the rpm arm, they are WAY over engineered. I can't remember an RC that I have ever had where I didn't remove material from rpm arms.

A little sneak peak of what's to come!

DLUX Ti sway bar links, like everything Erik does, these are just bad ass!

I just spent the last 2.5 hours beating on this thing! In the dark with out the lid on... I still need to get the back wheels together, zero out and properly setup the servo (though it works, I'm picky), and get a few of the scale touches finished up. But I'm convinced this rig is as sturdy as the parts list says it should be now!

The front diff works great! For those of you wanting the beef that the ofna setup brings, but don't want the front locked this setup is just killer!

Last night I put a little over 4 hours of ultra high traction torture on the Yeti. Driving on very coarse asphalt with the neighbor kids skate ramps setup in the street, doing donuts, drifts, and of course jumps. To keep the rig balanced in air I needed to stay in the throttle while airborne, and to stress test the drive train I did not always let off before landing. Quite a few full throttle landings and everything is holding tight, The rig and more importantly the front diff took it all like a champ!

Tomorrow my mom flies back home to Arizona and I will be able to start spending some time in the workshop to finish up the little things.

Thanks for testing those out Dicky!

The open diff option has been working flawlessly for months now. I am going to make a batch hopefully tomorrow or Thurs and then put them out to market.

Those end links for the sway bar are a bit too short for you. They shouldnt have any threads showing when the rod ends are on.

A new set was shipped out to you and you should have them soon. Wait till all these guys see what youre going to get to complement them! More bling enroute!

I hate RPP :flipoff: They carry far too much great stuff! :lmao:

I have not fulfilled my entire wish list yet, but checked out today with:

STRC CNC Machined Aluminum Front Skid Plate/Hinge-pin Mount

STRC CNC Machined Aluminum HD Rear Cage Stiffener

And having found the plastic bell crank to be flimsy at best

STRC CNC Machined Aluminum Steering Bellcrank set.

I will probably use the VP Steering rack that I already have and sell or pay it forward with the STRC rack, providing everything matches up nice.

I considered the VP steering rack myself, but chose the STRC offering because it includes not just the rack itself, but the entire bellcrank system. I figured it pretty much eliminates all weak parts in the steering system and that's the last thing you want to fail at 3S speeds! Sadly enough....today I totaled up what I've spent just on steering parts for the yEDi.....$262!!!!! In the course of about 3 weeks. About the only thing I have left to replace are the a-arms and hinge pins.

Edit: I just re-read your post. So you're likely going to use the VP rack with the rest of the parts from the STRC bellcrank set? Not a bad idea, but not sure why you would.

Because I already have it, and like the looks of it. The STRC was out of stock on my initial order, so I ordered the VP rack to at least add some strength there.

If the VP part fits nicely with the STRC bell crank, I will use that rack, if not I'll use the part STRC includes in their kit. Either way I will have an extra rack to find a new home for.
