CXT 6x6 Flat Bed Tow Rig

Well I havnt driven this much since the last time. I changed the gearing a bit and got the shifter servo hooked up. And it has sat since then. Well I hope to be taking it to the beach tomorrow, otherwise if it just sits here I might want to sell it.

I did pick up some parts today.

WOW! Those axils look like you could drive them over a land mine with no effect. I'm working on my Maxx-based crawler and I am really thinking about going with different axels, there is just too much engineering that has to be done and most look home made.

Good luck on this project, please post so pics and vids when you get it on the trail!

wow thats big

its looks awesome though"thumbsup". great work. saw your video of you at Hollister Hills . you live close by?

EDIT: newbie mistake. just noticed the location line under everyones name. srry

I would move both rear axles forward a but, they just look too far back. This would also decrease your turning radius as well.I'm a part time tow truck driver and love this build.Y'know if you put a set of racks over the cab and a wheel lift on the back it would look like my Brother in laws 4 car that he does auctions with"thumbsup"

nice their is a lot of work here!! good job!! is it hard to make a 6wheeler like that??

Thanks...Just takes time.

what are you using for the drive line?

Stock Maxx shafts and 1/4" solid aluminum rod.

Yeah, but that was before I lived close by.

Are those parts to make the bed slide out?
"thumbsup" Oh yeah. I think Ill be loosing the 3nd gear in the trans tho. I kinda want to use the third channel for the bed.

The plan called for a rack over the cab, thats why there is a cage under the cab to support the weight of the top truck/rack. But I think it might be too much weight for the electronics to keep up with. I ll see what happens when I finally put 9 tooth pinions in it. But then Ill be adding a lot more weight with the bed slide setup.

My set up...

I'll need to make the bed longer to fit more then one rig. But cool anyway. And I didnt need to build any of it.

update. I cut the bed in half awhile back to ease storage and to see if I would use it more. I also had to bring the rear axles forward a bit.

Here it is with my 2.2 on it.

what is the next thing you are going to work on with this rig?

ARe you thinking of making the bed tilt?
If I keep it I would change the front suspension to a parallel 4 link with a panhard bar or mount the servo on the axle. I looked in the past and the servo is to big to mount easly on the axle with out standing it on its side.

I wanted to make the bed slide, but I dont know if I have the room to do what I wanted since I cut the bed down.

I have thought about taking the piece of bed I cut off and mounting it on top of the cab so that I could still carry 2 rigs, but not make the truck any longer.

Okay. Cool. Well, maybe this is something I can finish or if you have the time maybe this can maybe happen.

Also, just wanted to explore what ideas you had since you know what the progress is on this type of rig.

thanks. "thumbsup"
