Colorado Rally Championship 2014

Just found the flyer for this at a hobby store today. Have raced here and there but I'm basically a total beginner. I'm also on a tight budget. Was looking to get into it, but had a few questions about a good budget starter car. Would an Exceed RC DriftStar with a rally conversion be an ok starter?

It could be depending on what electronics you use. Personally I have not had that car. I think the rally section would be a better place to ask that question and see what others have experienced with that car. I don't recall anyone at the races having that car.

Yeah I think that would work. If we had 3 or 4 guys I think it could be done in a day maybe two. Hell even a couple gas weed wackers would make pretty short work of most of it. There are just a few spots we need to "smooth out".

Right now I'm not sure what days I can do. I think I am getting a "real job" and I have no idea what the schedule will be.

Right now though I can't do most saturday mornings or Dec. 14th. But the rest look ok for the time being I should know more in the next week or two.

OK, like I said I'd love to help. Just let me know and I'll do my best to make it. I don't want to be "that guy" who doesn't help at all. "thumbsup"

A google search turned up a few videos and some rally info on that car. I say if you already have it, you could likely run it and have a blast. If you don't already have it, there may be better options.

I appreciate the replies. Thank you. I've been researching it as well, and it seems like an ok beginner. I'm fairly good with the mod stuff, so that won't be an issue. I'll cut this short and move any further questions to the rally section. Thanks again.

So the next Race is Saturday Night Nov16th ??Right?? If so I won't be-able to make it. Gonna go listen to The Colorado Symphony do A tribute to Comic Con.. So what are the Chances the race is suppose to be Sunday Night?????

Over the weekend, Ty said it was the night of Saturday the 16th.

Yep, it's listed in the first post of this thread, has been for a couple months.

There is an event listed on Facebook here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/363132677165361/363137403831555/?notif_t=like

If you are not yet part of the group just send a request and we will get you in.

For all others:

The next event is Saturday, November 16th. Right now the plan is 5pm at the 40th street Raceway. PM Basicmods for exact directions. Thats right its a night race. And lights are required. The detailed information on lighting is a few posts back.

I will get a more precise schedule as soon as I talk to Paul in the next couple of days.

This is the only night race of the season. All the other events will be sunday mornings.

Yes. I have talked to a couple who are bringing them out this saturday. Plus I plan to get one sometime in the near future. Bring it out and come race. "thumbsup"

Just a few more days!:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

So I've been looking at this video. Is this what I should expect Saturday?

I'm totally going to fall off that bridge.

Unfortunately for you the bridge is still there and is been raised ups a couple of inches :lmao: That is the correct location but there has been a few mods to the track since last year. here is last years vid from this track.

Now there is a 3 foot raised section with jump and small switch back. Ty was over last Sunday to help layout the track for this race. its about half the length that HOON470 is now. I will try to shoot another track layout vid and get it posted before Saturday, if i can make it home before it gets to dark for my camera.

here is pics of the elevated section before it was finished.

I think that if we run the Class R first (if Ty agrees) there will be enough daylight that lights wont be needed if we get started by 5pm. The area has a some street lights and it is almost a full moon. The MTT and rally cars will need lights. Anyone is welcome to come over earlier and practice in the daylight hours. I will have a couple of tables and an extension cord for charging stations and work tables in the garage.

Class R first sounds good to me. "thumbsup" Lights will not be required for this class only. I plan to get there around 3:30 or 4:00 to make sure the track is ready to go and to do a little bit of driving. Registration will be at 5:00pm and we will be racing by 5:15pm at the latest!

See everyone this saturday!

I down here in Pueblo so I need to have plan together to sell the wife in advance.

I will be there for some of these races before the season is over.

Great time everyone! It is amazing what you can do with an RC car at night.
Rough conditions for photography, but here are a few where you can make out something in the photo. :ror:

Feel free to use these photos for you build threads guys. And if you don't have one yet do it! And spread the glory that is RALLY!
