CK Fly V1 build

The gears do look cool but aren't all that light compared to what Will's new gears are going to be coming in at. 1st & second gears are just a touch over 7 grams, my scale says 7.10 & 7.15. Oddly second gear, which has the built-in spacer, was the lighter of the two.

Wow. It doesnt look like you could take any more weight off those gears.

The 3rd gear is the one with the sleeve, it is probably lighter because its a smaller diameter.

They're actually still pretty stout... I've got another untouched set that I may spend a little more time on, those would be going in your CF axles:mrgreen:

Yes I'd probably have known that gear was smaller if I'd looked at my drawings of them! I did those a while ago though and have a notoriously short memory.

It's pretty much done now...

Time to wrap it up"thumbsup"
Gold Voodoos with about the 100th foam combo I've had in them before this thing's turned a wheel. Thanks to all who've posted their results with these tires and also to Eddie @ CI who keeps making awesome products & giving even more awesomerrr advice
Lots of pics because it'll only look this pretty for a couple more hours...

...final weight without any weights in the KL Designs knuckle weight holders 3.84 lbs. I'll probably stick a bunch of weight on it to get started, they'll hold 8 oz total.

...time to hit some rocks"thumbsup"

Love the build, very clean. I really like the tubes holding the weight retainers together. I've been thinking about doing that in the rear holes I am not using to keep them from separating. "thumbsup"

Very interested in your battery mount as well. I may have to attempt something similar.

Loving this rig"thumbsup" Crappy pics because I can barely walk down the street and chew gum, so driving & taking cell phone pics is a major challenge....
I changed to aluminum braces at the front and the rear shock, couldn't keep the Delrin ones tight. Working with the Voodoos is a learning experience but pretty much following Eddie's advice on foam & running golds front & rear. Learning to keep wheel speed low:mrgreen: That's highlighted the fact that my FXRs aren't all that I'd like at micro-throttle positions, I've got some CC Sidewinders and will try them out after I finish the smash-job. I've got to rework my steering set-up too, I'm tearing up the sidewalls on the front Voodoo LH side. I had to space the knuckle weights in a bit as well to get them out of the sidewalls. I'm thinking about giving the short cab a try too as the Voodoos are so tall that it might drive upside down OK....

I'm sure eventually I'll do some trimming but honestly I still have foam combos to try and my ability to get out on the rocks is hit-or-miss at this point so it's taking some time. I still haven't tried the silver or blue compounds or played with wheel width... so much still to do:mrgreen:

The Axles with the orange VP stuff looks very good, also the lipo mount.

the whole Rig looks fantastic."thumbsup"
