Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

35T on NiMH is not going to break any records. I would suggest jumping right to 3s ASAP. You will have much better results with crawling and wheel speed.

3s will be the next mod for sure just trying to get a better motor first ( running 55T now) does the gearing and timing look right to you?

i have a mostly stock Piston Spyder Wraith. This truck sees water, mud, rock crawling, occasional sand.

im putting in a Tekin 35t brushed, which i know will give me more low end grunt. i want to run it on 3S to get some wheel speed back. I'm still running 48p. does 15-16/80 sound about right?
I read somewhere that if your using 80t spur that anything under 17t won't fit. You will need to get 87t spur so that the smaller gears will reach. Have you put the 15t or 16t pinions on? My 19t motor is getting hot with 80/17 gearing.

15t or 16t pinions would work well with 87t spur (or 88 as I have).

I agree with cotyhamlett

I have a wraith and im mostly into crawling and trails.... I want to have plently of low end control but also want a bit of wheel speed as well I am looking into a holmes crawlmaster pro 16t....But most of the guys running this motor are running 3s. I have a ton of 2s batteries and will not be changing.... so considering the battery situation. is this still a good option for me?

Just to make sure, i ordered a 27turns holmes torquemaster pro. Will 56t/14 gearing on 32p good on 2s be good. My car weights around 3kg. Running big rockbeast tyred

Hey guys tried searching the thread could not find what I was looking for. I'm going to be running a mmp with 3800kv in my wraith Mt wanted go change out to 32p gearing. Thinking about the bomb proof mod but need a gear ratio suggestion thanks in advance

If you're going to use the robinson slipper (56t) as the beefy top shaft would suggest, than I'd try a 12t pinion.

Hello everyone, I am new to Crawlers I normally fly Heli's. My wife is into RC cars and has several cars. She wants a Wraith so I bought a Kit 1/10 scale. I need to buy an ESC and motor. She is looking for an All around good motor mostly crawling she has some short course cars that are fast. I use Castle creations ESC's already so I was thinking about Castle. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Shannon

If you are ok with spending the money, Castle MMP and Tekin ROC412 3100 KV is the system to beat. Get some 3s packs and you'll have an awesome trail rig with enough wheel speed to make any reasonably hill climb.

Thanks I will give that a shot and see how it does. I think I'm going to try a few different gearing figurations in plastic before I drop the scratch on full metal

Not really a great motor for the Wraith, so your gearing is just going to have to be whatever you need to bandaid the effects. Find a small pinion and big spur.
Well I want to set it up as a fast truck and not that good at crawling I am thinking 13t pinion and 80t spur and I am kinda setting it up as a foff with a custom chassis but with wraith components
