Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

just got my holmes crawlmaster 16turn with the torquemaster and the super shafty 6mm trans what gearing would you suggest. not much crawling mainly mud and hill climbing

Here is my wraith with the motor/esc set-up I am running:
- Tekin rs with 10.5t brushless gen2 tekin motor
- Venom 3s 11.1 5000mah 50c lipo
- 10amp B.E.C. from castle creations
- Futaba p-mx 3-channel system
- High current fan over the esc (don't know what brand)
- Hitec HS-7980TH servo with 611 oz. of torque
That's my electrical system in my wraith, I didn't name everything or all of my upgrades because it would be to long. So, yes my wraith is a basher not a crawler and is a year old this month that's when I bought it. So its a powerful wraith but is very abused it is scratched up really bad and is very dusty from offroading in dry dirt so its in rough shape, but what am I kidding its an axial wraith it can handle the abuse, Lol. - axial 4x4 crawler

Huge difference in price and performance.

The RX8 is not needed, get a Mamba Max Pro, more affordable.

The ROC412 3100 KV is my current motor of choice. The 4 pole has much more power than the 2 pole 13.5.
mmp with that motor sounds grate thanks

hi everyone
I posted a question on the electronic section but think I can get more response if I post the link to it here - since my build is a wraith
this is in regards to a mamba max pro and pro4hd motor
all new
battery is lipo 2s 4000c
verify abc is connected correctly
using 4pks and have throttle on reverse

the problem is the motor seems to not work. It stutter (2-4 sec) and than stop and reverse nothing happen

call castle and they said the mamba max pro is ok
call tekin and the tech guy said the pro4hd is pulling too much amp that the mamba max pro can't handle - which I think is incorrect
anyway can someone have a look at my thread and help me out
this is following Harley suggestion for my wraith to use the mamba max pro and pro4 - which I thought work -so when tekin told me that I thought that was weird hence I post this to you all
here's the link to my post - which include the castle report of the esc using castle link
thanks everyone - wondering if its the motor or me - user error - if its the motor how can I test it without taking it apart etc...

verify that it was a bad motor, used a different tekin motor and it beep on startup and running fine
sending it to tekin to have a look
darn thing is brand new too. Oh well

Is this a good combo for a pure crawler setup, i´m going to use a 3s lipo and a Axial Pinion 48P 14T

Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL Electronic Speed Control
Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Pro Handwound 540 45 Turn Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Pro Handwound 540 45 Turn
148$

or

Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro 1/10th Sensored & Sensorless ESC
Novak Ballistic Crawler Brushless Motor 21.5T
Castle Creations CCBEC 10 amp Switching Regulator
225$

or is there any better combo that i can buy from tcscrawlers.com or is there any other shops that ships worldwide and have low shipping fees =)

Okay, somebody's probably asked something similar at some point, but there are so many post everywhere on this site it's hard to find anything specific.

I just got a RC4WD AX2 2-Speed tranny, I'm running a 20t brushed motor and I don't think it'll be up to the job. First run for the motor as well as the tranny, and the motor was quite hot after bashing and crawling around my yard, and I was only running a 2S Li-Po. I like the speed, but I'd like some more torque. So my question is what's the speed equivalent for a brushless motor?

The first page will have the best info on what brushless to run. A 13.5 will be a decent start.
