This is going to be a gradual build up, upgrading as I go.
Started out as your average RTR Honcho

As ive always loved 80s Chevs, I went with the clod body

Next to shorten the wheelbase, I picked up a wack of traxxas tie rod ends and some 3mm threaded rod.The links will be then sleeved with 3/16 brake line.

I first took a paint brush and brushed a nice coat of DOT4 brake fluid on it. Then i let it sit overnight. The next day i took a plastic scraper and scraped all of the paint off. Any left over paint and detailed areas i took off with nail polish remover and cotton ball. It worked surprisingly well

update!
sleeved the lower links with 3/16 brakeline

Really nice built! I have a clod body myself that i'm working on....the only thing i'm wondering...is how do you attach the body to the truck? Velcro? could you show me a picture without the body please?

WOW! This is exactly the same body/paintjob that i had in my head for a future scaler project. I love the look of it!

How did you tint the windows? just spray paint?

here's the body mount pics for rebuilder. I just made 2 rectangles out of some thick styrene and then drilled holes for the body posts. Then i put the body clips in to hold them on, and lastly, put some velcro overtop

Thanks for the comments!!

Looks good, a real easy trick to dress up that grill...

Take a paper towel with some paint thinner on it, wrap it tightly on your finger tip and wipe the painted black part down. It should end up like mine.
I painted my entire grill flat black and wiped of the "high" spots.
