Car 61 ~~ The Rock Cop ~~~ with VID !

true thanks.
i still gotta de booger those sliders and make the mounts.

then its electronics.
it might not have the dash completed by sunday, i got the rpp dash kit and bowtie's dash decals coming. i also got a few fun things to make...
... you know how it is, it will never be truly done. "thumbsup"

Scalers never are "thumbsup"

lol thanks.

not too much of an update, but a good one coming soon.
what's this pile ?

well, what's a trail rig with no CB radio ?
i mean Bowtie got one so what gives ?
16ld450.jpg

and while we are talking about Bowtie...
i was planning on making something for the dash, but after seeing these in his build off entry... i needed to cop a fix.
2ezh6hi.jpg

that's the dash kit from RPP and the gauges sheet from Bowtie himself.
"thumbsup"

more to come.

Man Crunky you have been busy on this one!

Alot of cool mods since I last checked in. Keep it up man "thumbsup"

And I wish that I could make it up to Skinner Mt. There are going to be some sicc rigs there!

well keep an eye on the gtg thread in mass section...
... the weather isn't looking that nice, so might be rescheduled

and thanks for the inspirational comments "thumbsup"

got into building a CB radio to go with the antenna...
hey look, it's on channel 40 too.
looks like i will be able to talk to you guys on the trails "thumbsup"

then i tore into building a gps.
the thing is huge, so rather than make a blind spot on the dash, i opted to mount it to the floor.
1zi23l.jpg

here's the gauges, the radio faceplate and the cb. i still have to make mounts for the gps.

thanks for looking, more to come.

looks good crunk. but the reason the GPS system is so large is because these are trail GPS systems, not those tiny dashboard mounted ones that are useless. the driver should be able to see where he/she is going.

I built mine in my truck to look like the original.

But to say the least its a very nice truck. wish someone would come out with a Nissan hardbody now. getting to be too many of these toy's
even a nice Mazda hardbody would be tight.

thanks for that info... and with that i went back to hack.

i made myself up a lowrance GPS.

looks like i be on the same KOH trail as yall.
:flipoff:

i like this styrene thing.
it's only getting better. "thumbsup"

the bump on the dash is where i am making a panel for the radio. i had it centered in the dash, but after finding out the KOH is a lonely race, i better get with the program... chuck the tomtom and get real.
thanks again for looking.

well i got the dash done.
this is the kit from rpp and the decals from bowtie.
considering it's my first take on a dash... the kits made it easy.

nice!!! looks good.

is it me or do the decals look purple? i'm looking at what i have here in front of me and they don't look that way.

thanks for the replies.

after seeing my rush job of the dash i went back and redid a few things.
hopefully they are for the better.

you can't really see this one, but i painted the whole gps mount to match the color of the GPS instead of painting it black.

the tilt-o-meter was a bit small looking. the site glass on the bottom was small. i know it was exactly as it looked in real life, i simply wanted to add a little more pronounced look to it. hopefully it's not overdone.
i remember my dad had one of these in his old CJ7. very cool to show him the one on my dash today.

the small fire extinguisher on the dash needed some help. i added the tube and the nozzle.

i forgot to add this cool sticker.

i didn't show the steering wheel.

and lastly the cb radio mic wire was white, and i thought it would look cool, but ended up looking half finished. so i painted it semi gloss black and added the small silver connector. i also retouched the paint on the mic itself.

now i feel better....
even though i don't have any cool foot pedals yet. lol
i do plan on still building a gas tank for it. maybe i can incorporate something to cover that motor.

wow, that looks sick! its coming along awesome. Are you going to put sirens and flashing red and blue lights on top?

whelp, it's time to get back on page one of the 1.9 build section.

it's been a bit, the small stuff takes the most time i am finding out.

yea the dice are dipsplaying the numbers 6 and 1...
what else ?

next up...
wiring... ugh.

yay update !!!

had a quick slump there for a bit, too much going on outside to keep me in.
i had an awesome gesture with the rig. there was a cool offer made to ship me out some traxxas radio gear so i could get this puppy running.
Nate08... your the man !
thanks again.

i have it running. i got it wired up with the cc bec powering the servo only, and the signal wire has been disconnected. the signal comes straight from the rx. i have the 3racing winch battery plug end ( tamiya plug ) clipped off and i soldered it along with the bec power wires and the esc power wires to the deans itself.
that all sounds right... but the winch keeps getting one small tick glitch and it spools in. i'm just going to wire it up like the other rigs i got and have a kill switch to the winch.
glitch solved.

i also noticed a slight creep in the steering servo when accelerating the FXR.
that night have been where i had everything laid on top of each other on the bench, i hope.

ok ok on to the pics.
whoa guts....

now i got the wiring figured out it's time to hide everything, build a gas tank and a tool box to hide all of the led crapola that i still need to get in.
