Hey crunk, what glue are you using for all this styrene work? I keep seeing this thick resin looking stuff in your pics and am curious.
i am using two different types of glue to see what one i like best. so far it seems to be the plastruct bondene. the other i was using was the amboid pro weld. both work fine, i just think the bondene has a smidge more melting power. i still will stick to tenax7r for doing simple styrene to styrene bonds.
the paste you see is a mixture of all my shavings/filings mixed with the bondene solvent. it melts to a nice paste that can be used as filler, and it doesn't sink as much as putty. i use it for many different areas, but it seems to work well when filling small gaps, or leveling low ares.
i got two tubes of body filler that i purchased for doing crunk rock, and haven't touched them since i used a little bit on the hood of the chevy.

been busy with work and house chores...
but i am closing in on my build.
i got some inside cab parts made up.
just to dress it up a bit.
i'm hoping i dont have an issue with getting the floor in and out.
time will tell, and i got a backup plan if this goes to hell.
the tube door on the passenger side rubs just a tiny bit. it's ok, it will help hold the door closed. "thumbsup"
still needs finish sanding and whatnottery...
but the basic idea is there.
but i am closing in on my build.

if you made a hole in the styrene, would the tube end fit into it? use the flex of the body if you want to open/close the doors but also act as a "lock"

not much of an update, but it's something.
i finished boxing in the corners.
i also added more to the rockers so that i could cut the floor width down so the the body could still slide off with the floor staying attached to the chassis.
...and i forgot how much of a pain bead locks are...
all those damned little screws
as my kids would say...
this thing is going to be beast with these new RC4WD two face tires
mounted to axial beadlock wheels.... I'd like to thank them for that "thumbsup"
( and if that doesn't sound like a redneck on raceday i don't know what does. )

if you read posts and not just look at pictures you already know that i had been looking for yota buckets and didn't have much luck. i wasn't about to buy something new when i had something unused laying around.

oh yea, and the led's i ordered came in. this thing is gonna spot the bad guys no problem.
5 roof, 2 headlight, 2 hood mounted spotlights, 4 rock lights, 2 tail lights, and 1 interior light.

OK, we're even. Now I know how I'm gonna mount the light buckets to the inside of my lexan body when they get here! "thumbsup"
And no, there won't be enough light to spot the bad guys...there's gonna be enough light to BLIND them! I think 9 forward facing lights should do the trick! :lmao:

well what's up with my truck not building itself ????
guess i don't got it like that....
anyways, i have been tinkering with the fit and finish, mounting up the seats and fixing the floorboards.
i didn't go as far with hiding the tranny and motor as i had thought. hopefully one day this rig will get a transfer case and no need to waste time.
the cab also got the initial stages of painting done. the black was only going to be the test and fill spray... but it came out better than planned so i am going with it.
and i have been lining up my slight mod to the front bumper to carry the winch.
i am pushing closer to the end on this one.
oh almost forgot....

ripping into it, i got the first and second coats of white done on the cab.
she's got a few dents, but it's all pretty now.
one thing i had wanted to do was add a winch to the front.
i did not want to do away with the original design, even though the uprights for the hood exo split the headlights. maybe they are light guards.
i simply added a cradle to hold the 3R winch.
i have to tweak it back to shape a little bit and file it down.
