Bush Resigns!

Alright, here we go. First, why do you continue to call a raise in taxes a redistribution of wealth? We've had taxes for a long ass time, and yet this is the first time I've heard a raising of those already established taxes as "socialism". Unless you can come up with some facts that show that Obama literally plans to throw all of your posessions into one communal pot, then I'm done with the socialist argument.

I believe in Obama's own words he wants to raise taxes on the more affluent and refund money to those that make less income. About 40% of Americans now pay no federal income taxes. Estimates show that with Obama's tax plan that number may jump to about 60%. So a lot more people would pay no fed taxes and get a check from (not back because they never paid taxes (net) in the first place) the federal government. This would not be just a progressve tax system but literally taking from the "rich" to give to the "poor".......wealth redistribution. Socialist societies use government power for wealth redistribution.

Finally, I can quit my job and not have to worry about my mortgage, food, bills and putting clothes on my kids back because Obama will take care of it:roll:...

Im willing to give him a chance and have high hopes for him but as soon as he fawks with the gun laws im calling all you bitches out...

Hey buddy me too. I am not exactly what you'd call a democrat. I vote democratic and support more of their views than republican but I am a gun carrying, dozen vehicle owning, hard working, business owning red blooded American.

Try to remember this he CAN'T just walk into the presidency and take guns away ok. It's called democracy and it has to be voted on. Besides he has enough on his plate fixing all the crap the bush reich messed up.

And yes to all you who say your the minority you are. This election was won by a landslide, face it.
Also statistically speaking white males are less in #'s than all other races in this country so you the minority there too.
Sorry to put you to bed with such shocking info.

Thanks that was a waste of 10 minutes but I regret to inform you that majority does rule in the us. Majority just picked YOUR new president. Thanks for playing. Do you believe everything you see on the internet? If so we have much to discuss.
I looks like the republican media machine has you shaking in your cowboy boots. Exactly what they want.

A rose by any other name.

53% of popular vote is considered a landslide these days?

Reality is that roughly half of the country voted against Obama.

The sad reality is that the percentage of votes that gave Obama the victory was from people that had no clue about his policies and prior voting history in the Senate, but instead bought into the speeches and rockstar persona that was created by his media blitz.

Fact: Only AT&T and Verizon spent more in advertising than Obama spent during his campaign. See below.

Only 5 percent of the voting public made the difference in this election.

How much did that 5% cost Obama? Estimates exceed $1 Billion.

McCain, limited by his pledge to accept public financing, spent approximately $84 Million.
Never mind that Obama broke his word to be limited to public financing... no one will remember that.

But it does change the future of campaigns... no one need even bother if you are not backed by a lot of very deep pockets. Saturation level advertising works... particularly when you are aiming your message at mental midgets that do not even know or understand the issues.

The Presidency CAN and HAS been bought. And the price was actually relatively cheap-- only $1 Billion.

Now all Obama has to do is earn all of that money... after all, that $1 Billion was an investment in him.

But does anyone doubt that if it had been McCain that had spent over ten times as much on his campaign and Obama left to nurse along a paltry $84 Million that the outcome would have been very different?

Honestly, I really hope Obama proves me wrong.

I think one thing he's trying to point out is that the U.S. is not a democracy of majority rule, but instead a democratic republic governed by a constitution. A majority vote of people cannot take away 2nd Amendment rights. That can only be done through a change in the Constitution.

i read these types of posts on and off as it interests me what my fellow Americans think. guns...i do not hunt nor have one but i do see why gun owners are worried.i personally think we do need stricter gun laws but i don't have the answer on how to do it. i don't think the public needs guns that are of a military type. im not including semi auto riffles and pistols im talking full out military guns. we don't need that shit. keep that for the military. for myself this is a hard subject to debate as i see both sides but truly don't understand everything.

im not gonna pretend to be super knowledgeable about politics as i am not and far from it. i did vote for Obama because i seen more of a positive future with him imo.i think people are taking things out of context or to the extreme in many cases that deal with the new president.when we vote for a new president we are never gonna get one that is 100% what we want.i didn't vote for McCain for a couple of reasons, one his outlook on the war and his choice for running partner.its always a crap shoot when voting. he also reminded me alot of what we already have and i know alot of you don't like to hear that.what i do like about him is his emotions for this country, his dedication to it, what he has done for it but he played a poor game at the campaigns. people want change in a very bad way and now we have it, will it be for the best ? we can only hope so but lets not jump to conclusions so early.

we need to stop arguing about what is already done and concentrate on the future.if you don't like the possibility of the gun laws being changed stop your bitching on a rc site and write to people of higher power. do your part as Americans and get out there and voice your opinion to someone that it matters to(what you all should of been doing before the elections) and can make things happen, not joe the plumber here on rcc.this gets nothing done but taking a great rc community and splitting it in some cases.there's been name calling and sarcasm and racial slurs that ive read, some take it to heart some brush it off.regardless its not needed.fun is fun but when you bring in certain elements it becomes more then a debate.

what am i getting at ? im not really sure but i do know we all live under the red white and blue and should act like it and work together, not against.my grammar sucks, my typing could be better and im not as educated as alot of you but i know when things just aren't rite and this thread is one of them.rcc has come a long way over the years since i joined back in 2004.its a great place to come and find out everything needed to know about rc rock crawling but threads like this make me wonder wtf is going on. im all for debates and discussions but enough with the crap.ive seen alot of school yard bullies group up on people with nothing more then sarcastic idiotic responses.not all but some. is this what we are about ? i dont think so.

Yes with 365 of the needed 270 vs 162 of 270 I'd say landslide sir. Even though I don't agree with it, fact is electoral votes are all that matter, not popular.
Also the popular vote was won by 8,481,030. Thats Eight MILLION people, last I checked thats alot.

As for your fact yes obama spent 573 mil of the 639 he raised. So what thats what fundraising is for, FUNDS. There is a bigger gap in what mccain raised vs what he spent. Maybe Mccain should've used a bit more to help himself along.

twisted......I don't agree with some of your political slants, but your post is well written and insightful.

Obvoiusly a lot of people think they like the future Obama presnts. If he gets what he wants, this will be the most radical deviation in policies in our nation's 200+ year history. What many others see are serious threats to our freedoms bother and anger them. We know socialism and communism yield failed economies (look at the Soviet Union and now the quasi-capitalism of prospering China). Bigger government and increased spending will further hamper the economy. A lot of people think that government money comes from some magic pot but it's vacuumed up tax dollars from the producers in our economy.

A lot of people also voted against Obama due to his past relations and indoctrinations. Ayers, Doorn, Davis, Rev. Wright, Phlager, Rezko, Odinga, etc. There seem to be a lot of ties to communist ideals, American hate, the Chicago political machine, and other ideals that stray from what a lot of Americans cherish in the country they live in.

What we know about the future are simply promises made by the candidates. However, we can look back at who they associated with, their past accomplishments, and their track records.

Again, Canadian healthcare might be cheaper, but treatment facilities are few and far between. How does forcing someone who needs treatment to drive hundreds of miles justify the cost savings? It seems that the folks who wrote your article forgot to mention that fact.

What, no mention of how far she will have to travel or wait to receive her treatment?

I did read that wait times have now fallen to just over one month for Canadian Cancer patients awaiting radiation therapy....I guess that is a positive....unless you have the rapidly spreading Small Cell Carcinoma.

Still no comments on the quality of this "free healthcare"?? (I use the term "free" loosely because we all know that it is NOT free...it is paid for with "redistributed funds" just like any "good" socialist policy)

A few quotes to consider.

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"
What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that his people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.

-- Thomas Jefferson

"The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good"

-- George Washington

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

-- Alexander Hamilton

"To disarm the people... was the best and most effectual way to enslave them."

-- George Mason

"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom."

-- John F. Kennedy

Let us hope our weapons are never needed --but do not forget what the common people knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government -- and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws."

-- Edward Abbey, "Abbey's Road", 1979

Our founding fathers were wise men. The Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bare arms for a very good reason.
Here are a few quotes by people who supported gun control.

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.

-- Adolph Hitler, April 11 1942

Every Communist must grasp the truth, 'Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.'

-- Mao Tse-tung

I for one will NEVER give up my Constitutional rights to bear arms.

Remember this, when only cops have guns, it's called a "police state". Ask those who have lived in a police state about the rights and freedoms they enjoy.

LIVE FREE OR DIE!

AMEN...AMEN...AMEN CAN I GET AN AMEN...!!!!!

Maybe you didn't read my post, explains some of the pointless rambling you have been doing. I love the Canadian system and the quality of the care that we get. Yes some people have to go a few hundred miles to get healthcare, but guess what? that is because they live a few hundred miles from a town with more then 200 people in it. I don't even think that the americans will build a hospital in Kicking Horse Pass.

Yes there are some waiting periods, but no worse then what I have heard of from some of my american friends. No system is perfect, but i still stand firm in the fact that our system has more benifits then drawbacks, whereas the american one has more drawbacks then benifits. Ask any Canadian to exchange their health cards with yours, see how many agree!

I don't really know much about the Canadian health care system other than I understand it is a government run entity. Are all health care professionals in this system? Can you go to any one of them you want at any time? Do wealthy individuals use the same system?

Ahh...."pointless ramblings"....you must have misread my posts. They have a very direct point.

Where I work, patients start treatment quickly and yes, even small towns have treatment facilities. That is a good aspect of consumerism....plenty of options!

Of course I wouldnt find any Canuks that would want to exchange healthcards....because most of them believe that your healthcare is free....when in fact, it is not.

Wow, this thread got out of hand quickly. I must respond to a few things:

Nope.
The popular vote is absolutely worthless , the votes from the electoral colleges are the only ones that matter.

Obama won for 3 simple reasons:

1.) The electoral collages are still angry at Bush.
2.) The media was biased against McCain and for Obama.
3.) McCain did not play dirty politics.

The electoral college votes for what their constituents vote, not who they want to vote for. In other words, the popular vote has been the same as the electoral vote except 3 times (1876, 1880, and 2000).

...

And just to continue the theme of this thread...F*ck you "thumbsup"

LOL!!

oh yeah cause I'm sure your ancestors were invited.

My ancestors came as legal immigrants as well as 99% of all caucasian descendants in the US. I dare you to find a descendant of a legal immigrant from Mexico. Just go ask them while their standing at the home depot "Are you legal?" or "Illegal Inmigrante?".

Also the popular vote was won by 8,481,030. Thats Eight MILLION people, last I checked thats alot.

Last I checked, 8 million is only 6% of the total vote. That means 3 people out of every hunderd that voted decided this election (3% swing causes a 6% difference), Not alot.

The bickering in this thread is annoying and I hope a mod cleans up the personal attacks.
The bottom line is that Obama as pres isn't going to be that bad. Yes, you will have less $$$ in your bank account but as long as you continue to take care of yourself and your family you'll be okay.

Obama will be out in 4 years, remember, it only took 4 years of Carter to get Reagan. So to all those "bleeding vagina" republicans, just relax. Go buy that gun you've been looking at and watch as the country slowly turns against Obama

JeremyH, just so you understand the US pays more per citizen than Canada does on health care, also the US citizen on average pays more for the "premium" care we are offered.

The U.S. government spends more per capita on health care than the government does in Canada. In 2004, the government of Canada spent $2,120 (in US dollars) per person on health care, while the United States government spent $2,724.

Adding in personal expenses including eye care, dental, and perscriptions; average $917 per Canadian and $3,372 per American.

You can see clearly Americans outspend to get the better coverage. We also have far more doctors because our corrupt health care systems pay more than the governmentally controlled rates in Canada. We can not compare Apples to Oranges.
