Best online hobby shop for new rtr

some thing to be prepared for if a part has a wire and says traxxassss on it your gonna need to replace it soon
hopefully you choose replacement parts that dont have traxxaasss printed on them

every time i touch a traxxasss something traxxaasss burns up
just my experience but be aware the electronics suck traxx - ass

Do your self a favor also and order a new set of pinions and go down a tooth or two with the 3s batteries. You will have more wheel speed and thus lends to more carnage if you lock up a wheel.

I understand what your saying but unsure how to even look into it. 11- 32 is what I think is factory. But I dont know for sure.

I am fine with it burning up as I have a large group of knowledgeable people (here) to guide me into building a great rig.
I hope you have an awesome time with your new truck! It’s great to see someone ask a question and then pay attention and learn from what they are told.

Regarding Traxxas electronics. Some people really dig in their heels on certain things that they hate but in my experience with four Traxxas rigs that I've been running for 6-7 years plus watching/ reading a TON of feedback from other owners, this is my thought on Traxxas electronics:

* Batteries- Reliable and well-made but way overpriced compared to other brands.
* Motor- ( Specifically the Titan 550) As good or better than many other RTR motors. Well made and reliable. Low failure rate especially considering how many Traxxas motors are out there. Priced fair if needing to replace.
* ESC- ( Specifically the XL5)- Low on features but otherwise a fairly reliable ESC. Just have to be conscious not to exceed the 6.0 BEC/ VDC amp-rating. If you're not overloading/ overheating the XL5 it should be fine.
* Transmitter/ Receiver- ( Specifically the TQi series)- Transmitter is typically reliable with a decent list of features/ settings for an RTR included tx. A little overpriced compared to other brands and not the best regarding ergonomics or ruggedness but otherwise a decent radio that should last with proper care. Same for the receiver... not the most durable but if not abused, submerged, etc... should last without issues. Good range also.
* Servos- I have eight Traxxas servos and only one of those still works. These are RTR grade servos but even for their ( again overpriced) higher end servos, you can find much better alternatives.

Can't speak for their other electronics like aux lighting kits but they seem to be well made and are part of the whole plug-n-play appeal that keeps many people brand-loyal. So no... Traxxas electronics aren't at all horrible or inherently prone to failure despite what some people might suggest. Some Traxxas things are overpriced imo but besides their lower-end servos, I don't think you'll run into many issues with the included electronics.

I have pruchased:

trx4 Sport (Tan) from Amain
Amazon:
Zee 2200man 3s lipo batterys (2)
Tenergy TB-6AB Balance Charger Discharger 1S-6S
traxxas > xt60 adaptors
Congrats! Nice start. You should have a ton of fun! Definitely post up pics of that sweet, new rig when you receive it. Build threads are great to keep all truck mods and questions in one place.

Mine will more be trails and woods then rocks. I have sand though!
Be careful with the sand. It can get into places you don't want it, but honestly it shouldn't be a huge deal on this truck. May just demand more maintenance.

You're fine to start stock. There's absolutely no need to even think about changing anything until you drive the truck a few times first! As you drive and gain more experience, you will determine what you like and don't like about the truck. This leads to a logical way of thinking about upgrades or changes.

One word - haters. And Traxxas has more haters than any brand in RC. Companies on top often get the most hate though.

I've never killed a Traxxas motor, ESC or transmitter. Their servos are definitely the weak spot, but good thing the aftermarket for servos is massive and fits any budget!

The only thing I see some flake about is the servo on the trx4. But I am going to be doing upgrades as we go.
Exactly. This truck should provide years of trouble-free fun, within reason, except for the servo. But again, don't worry about that until it happens. And when it comes time to select a new servo, we can help you find one that fits the truck and your budget.

I’ve got a parts list running at the moment. Nothing crazy but I have been watching the ol’ YouTube and getting ideas.

Just know that not all YouTubers know what they are doing. There are still guys on YouTube, some of them being popular accounts, seeking maximum articulation and that is not what you want. One tire height of articulation is all you need.
