Newbie post,

Hello my all. I like some have been digging up their old RC trucks and tinkering again. I have a Axial Wraith and a MSI Baja truck that I can't remember what the exact name is. All stock RTR's for both. Love the Wraith but want to slow it down for my next upgrade or donate it to relatives kids and get the Axial SCXiii? Not sure, maybe keep it.

I also am working on old RC projects from 2012!!!! I have an older drone that I have yet to get in the air, a DIY project. 3DR hexacopter and a Spektrum DX8 controller I have yet to hook up to it, bind, and fly. Still need a battery and charger for said new battery and a screen or FPV to fly it. Only $$$ and time.

Talked about the Wraith upgrade. $$ and time.

I'm looking at getting a SCX10ii Honcho and modeling that after my real life 87 4Runner crawler, to give me inspiration. I like the Honcho Taco look, ideally I'd like to find an older 4Runner body for the SCX10ii...and bind it to my DX8 to make a rear steer creature. Thoughts??? More $ and time? lol.

Ultimately, my goal is ... "there is a goal"? I like RC stuff and would like to even do crawl meet ups in the VA/ NOVA area. And tinker with stuff that isn't a real life crawler and or guns or reloading. Ohh, and do some hiking trails with these said RC crawlers.

Too much???

Later,

Hi Everyone,

I’m James. I was heavy in to RC about 15+ years ago. My friend Jimmy owns Hot Rod Hobbies in SoCal and I was heavy in to racing. When it stopped being fun I sold everything and moved on. About 5 weeks ago I bought 2 Traxxas Slash 4x4’s for my son and I. We have 6 acres so I built a fill scale track. He is 6 so the attention span is low and he drives very little but does like it a lot so maybe when he gets a little older. In researching backyard tracks I stumbled on these things called crawlers and trail trucks. I have been hypnotized by them ever since. Early this week I started moving around some stuff to start building some obstacles. Today I bought the truck you see below. Can’t wait for the morning to test it out. Tonight I pulled the rtr radio and servo and replaced them with something better.

Hello everyone,

My name is Ben and I hail from Northern Minnesota.

I am a total noob, not going to lie.:lmao:

I have a mildly built Jeep TJ for crawling and thought that the RC crawlers would be fun on rocks.

About 1-1.5 months ago a good friend sent me pictures of his TRX4 Bronco that he got. After he explained everything to me about it, my interest was piqued.

So, after countless hours of watching youtube regarding crawlers, motors/esc's, wheels/tires/foams, controllers, tools, batteries/chargers, servos, brass, etc I finally pulled the trigger a week and a half ago. I think I've watched almost every Holmes Hobbies video 4-5x.

The Vanquish VS4-10 was out of my immediate budget so I was down to Enduro Sendero and TRX4 Sport.

So, back to watching everything I could regarding the Sendero and TRX4.

Long story short I settled on the TRX4 Sport which hopefully is here in a week or 2. I have no Hobby shops local to me, so you guys that are fortunate to have local hobby shops, I am jealous.

Parts are starting to show up which is a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to this becoming a reality.

I am fortunate to have a rock retaining wall in my front yard. So a perfect test and tune. In town, one of the parks has about a 1/4 mile rock water drainage channel which will be incredible.

I normally don't post a whole lot and spend most of my time researching.

But anyways, this site is GREAT and I am happy to be here.

ETA:

A portion of my home test and tune rock wall.

The park in town. If able to zoom in upper left, you can see how far this drainage goes. It’s really cool. I’m excited to try it out.

ETA 2-

Found aerial view of the park drainage. I think it will be really fun. Looks like a many many different lines.

I'm waiting on the same color TRX4 Sport.

I feel you and I are of the same mindset.

There will be no stock Traxxas electronics.

I tried explaining this to my buddy with the TRX4 Bronco and I could tell his eyes were doing the cartoon "blink blink."

Is what it is and should be all fun.

Couldn’t agree more.

The rtr electronics are fine but if you have ever used something better it’s hard not to think of the settings and options you lack. I also really like having everything on one remote. The trx-4 will end up brushless and various other upgrades. It’s so much fun making your truck “custom”. It’s actually my my favorite part.

Hey guys, my name is Ryan.
I bought an original Scx10 roughly 7 years ago? Tough to say exactly. I bought it used simply because it matched my real truck... 80 Toyota 4x4 with a bobbed bed, 5”? Lift sitting on some 35” street tires or some 33” swampers for wheeling. Either way I used this thing for a couple years until the body was literally falling apart, picked up a new body for it and made some mistakes bobbing the bed/installing the drop bed. Long story short, it sat in a box in the basement for at least two years until one of my good friends that I used to rc crawl with picked up an scx10ii scale builders kit(I had no idea axial had even made an scx10ii... let alone a iii now). So that lit a fire under my @$$ to get my OG Scx10 to out perform his scx10ii as well as finish the bodywork to mimic my real wheeler. I will post some pictures (real and scale) but this site has been a life saver for info thanks guys! I do have a few questions but I will search for them before posting anything as I am by no means new to forums and newbies posting things that have been posted a million times.

Hi All.

New to the crawler seen.

I have not purchased a vehicle yet and still doing research

What would you recommend I should purchase and is a good option.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Super Nel

Right on! I'm in Riverside. A drive, but I do head that direction from time to time! Keep us updated on how the build goes!

Hello. I'm usually more of a lurker and searcher and don't post much on forums and such. Live outside of Wichita KS.

New to RC in general. Just bought a TRX4 sport. Put a new steering servo in it so far and wanting to do a lot more.

I've done miniature wargaming stuff since I was a kid so I have experience with painting and small scale things. I have 3d printers too and plan to print some RC stuff, the first of which was some cones.

Jimmy used to announce at quite a few of the races I did in Beaumont/Hemet etc. I was heavy into 1/8th gas at one point and then the local track closed so I bought a couple HPI 5T Trucks and my son and I went racing. Since then I have been pretty idle but my son up north kept sending videos and now I'm hooked also!!

Were the races at "The Dirt"? I went there for a race once. It was pretty awesome.

Although I have been a member since late 2018, I haven’t post until recently. So here is my official introduction.
My name is Ian, 48 years old and I live on the East coast of Canada. Relatively new to RC’s. My first rc was a stadium truck, rustler 4x4 vxl. I then discovered trail trucks and purchased a Bronco trx4 followed by a trx4 sport. I stumbled onto Aussie RC Playgrounds “RC carnage” and ended up buying an Arrma 6s Kraton, quickly followed by the Granite 4x4 3s blx Monster truck and the Typhon 6s blx Buggy. This week I sold my Typhon to a buddy and purchased a Capra.

Hey All. Getting back into R/C after almost 30 years. I actually had ordered a road kit (Tamiya TT-02SR) along with an Aarma Senton 3S. While on the Aarma forum I ran into a guy that happens to live in my town and he told me that there isn't much around for road tracks and short course trucks but that there was a decent sized crawler club. I started looking into it and I am now in the middle of building an SCX10 ii. I am pretty excited to get out with the group and do some crawling. I'm looking forward to learning a ton from this forum as well.

I have a cool racing cnc 1/10 rock crawler aluminum axial scx10 chassis w/CARBON FRAME IM BUILDING AND NEED RECOMMENDATION ON WHAT MOTOR,SERVO,ESC,BATTERY,CHARGER,CONTROLLER WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ME

Hey all. I've been lurking these forums for years now and figured it was time to post... something. I've been into RC on and off for about 20 years. Started with a TMaxx which I bashed the hell out of and dropped more than I was expecting but had a great time along the way. Also ran an HPI belt driven car that I would drag (unsuspecting) 1:1s in a parking lot. Enjoyed the look on their faces. Got married, had kids, stuff started to collect dust (I still have both albeit not running), hobby shop closed for years.
Fast forward 2012 picked up a Tamiya Lancer kit to build with my daughter and 1 month after picked up the SCX10 after watching a video of crawling. Fell off a bit with working on career things. Picked up a Sendero last year and have been running that and the SCX10 with my son and he is enjoying it. I have 10 acres of wooded land that we run on and have a trail created in a clearing to which I've been slowly adding rocks. I believe I saw a thread for back yard setups that I'll post some pics.
I'm from a small town in PA - fairly close to Centralia.
Anyway, enough rambling from me. Hi everyone after 8 or so years of being a member. Thanks for all the info and help you have unknowingly provided.
