any crawlers in MN?

FHF Racing said:
Tuesday I will be heading up to the fairgrounds, I have to meet one of the fairboard members to work out some X games stuff around 6:30. If you would like to come up and take a look around and figures somethings I will be there for quite awhile. My cel is 612-267-1664, shoot me a call tomorrow and let me know if you can make it.

Tuesday works for me.

While it may be "Shark Week" on Discovery Channel this week, it's truck week here. I picked up the Weld beedlocks for the Moab XL's, time to order the adaptors and narrow the rims for the "Pimp Cane".
The 27t in the P4 TLT was only an expieriment (sp) I'm going to go with a 45t in that rig so.... motor swap-out time. I also picked up the aluminum idler gear for the pede tranny for the SW2 Bl. They say not to use it with the steel Top drive gear, but I'm going to greese it up good, and hope that since crawlers don't go fast, I'll be ok?? They didn't have the machined Delrin Top drive gear in stock, or I might have tryed that.
The Brown clod will only get it's wheels either tightend or glued, and 4ws added.
Plenty to do before the next comp.

Well I decided to put the aluminum knuckles back on the front of the Jugg tonight. I had to grind them down even more then before. Now I just getting a ton of flex out of the plastic servo horn.... I'll try a aluminum arm on it again later this week.

RC X-Games

Well, Troy and I met with Mike last night up in Cambridge to discuss rock crawling at the X-Games. Things look pretty good. It looks like they should fill their 200 spots in the main event. SMF will be there video taping everything at the X-Games, Skinny from Xtreme R/C Cars will be there doing an artical coverage of the games, and Inside R/C might even be there. And also, Mike will be adding us to his website. Needless to say, this is a HUGE opportunity for us to get some great coverage, locally and nationally!

We hashed out some details. There will be a $10 charge per participant. That $10 also gets everyone into drawings for give-aways. They have some pretty nice prizes expected including a Nomadio radio system and possibly a buggy! Gold, Silver, and Bronze metals will be handed out for each class.

Most of the crawling event will be pretty much left up to us. Planning and designing the course, what classes are ran, rules, and we will even decide wether it's a one day or two day event. He'd also like us to manage the running of the event, which really isn't anything new for us.

We will have access to a bobcat to help move the rocks around. He has also lined up a flatbead tow truck that we can use as a base to pile some rocks on (with the bed raised we can turn it into a hill of rocks). And the fairgrounds have said that pretty much anything on the grounds are at the disposal of the event, as long as it isn't damaged.

There is camping available right on site. Most of the camping is literally within a stone's throw of the track. sites without electrical hookup is like $13 a night, and with electrical is $18 a night I think. And for those that don't like camping, there are also hotels/motels in the area.

As a club, we've discussed numerous times about how we want to grow and how we want to get our name out there. As I mentioned before, this is a huge opportunity for us to get our name out there and to become recognized not only locally but also nationally. This would also be a good opportunity to maybe gain some members too.

I'm planning on attending, Troy is excited too. I'd like to encourage as many of us to attend. Please post what you guys think.

We can start setting up on site as early as the weekend before. In fact the sooner the better because we really don't want to wait till the last minute as people will be arriving as early as thurs.

In addition, with all the coverage, Mike would really like it to be the best possible course given the location. Anything new and creative is more than welcome, so put your thinking caps on!

the weekend of laborday monday the 4th being laborday , i would imagine it is the weekend of , as in the 1, 2, 3, and monday the 4th

i'm down for it , let me know when yous guys wanna head up there and start:twisted:

Yeah, it's Labor Day weekend. Friday Sept 1st thru Monday Sept 4th is the entire X-Games event. We are looking at most likely Sat/Sun. Fri is mostly practices for the other races, and Mon they are pretty much wrapping up by early afternoon. Saturday is expected to draw the most people as they are also having a swap meet, and Sun is going to be the most exiting as most of the big races will be ran. We are able to run how ever many days, but I think either 1 or 2 will be perfect.

I had to meet with my trophy guy this evening and order my hardware for the X games, I wasn't sure if you were going 2 or 3 classes, so I ordered enough for three just to be sure. So whatever you decide is cool with me. I also talked with John today and he has access to a 5,000lb. trailor and plenty of rocks that he can haul in. I ran the tow truck idea by my boss and he said he has to think about it, but I am sure he will give in. He and his son are allready interested in coming and entering in the spud run and truck pulls! With a little work, I think we will have no problem building a Xtreme coarse that will fit right in with the X games... Mike

I've got two stampedes and TLT running that same metal idler setup, no glitching. Keep it lubed though, I've heard rumors that the teeth will sharpen up over time. I've never had a issue with it though.

I would rather have the entire course on the ground, and not on a flatbed. We walk the entire course with our trucks. And going down the other side of a big rock can be just as hard, if not harder then going up it.

His idea is to have the flat bed tilted in the air and pile the rocks in an uphill fashion.

man , the lasty half of this year is gunna be kick a$s, going to Brainerd for the drag nats next weekend, rc Xgames , baby on the way , its start'n to look up..................

now all i need to do is , build MY OWN dammmn truck

Anyone have time this weekend to gtg and discuss/plan course design for the R/C-X games, toss around idea's etc? Mike wants to make this a super cool course, and it's only to our benifit. The cooler of course we have, the more people we'll have checking out our crawling. Great idea's come about with many minds at work. Just a thought. Post up if available and what are good times. I'm pretty much open all weekend.
Also, we now have a sticky for our comp results in the comp section under results.

Yeah, I'm available this weekend. Probably Sat anytime after 1:30 would be the best for me. But other prefer a different time, I might be able to make it then depending on when. Where should we meet at?

I pm'd KevinLongisland to get that sticky put there. He has left it open for us to add previous scores.

I am sure I will have the time, but I don't know if I want to drive to far for a meeting on course setup. I would rather wait until the rock is dumped and we can set it up. Gas just jumped up again, and if I have to drive 30 miles to a meeting, and back again. Thats $10 in gas alone.

One idea for the cours setup is to rope the lines, from gate to gate. This will help prevent people from doing 30 foot turns to avoid one backup penalty point. And if people roll outside of it, force a reposition on them. As for how to setup the boundrys and ropes I am not sure yet. Maybe we just run a line of mini markers to define the out of bounds lines. If I come up with some type of mini marker I will post it.

Also another idea. We should get another set of balls, in another color. Setup the entire 2.2 course in one color. And the super class in another color. Maybe have a third color, for gates that both classes will share.
