any crawlers in MN?

Thanks for the Midwest connection Ben. Looking forward to more pic's.
It's hard to explain just how difficult they make the courses for Nats. It's just something you have to experience for yourself. We try to make our courses fairly difficult to try and get people used to it, but most of the time that brings complaints.
Glad you guys had a good time still, that's really what it's all about. It's also nice to put names with faces from the board. Yeah, it would be nice to have bragging rights for a year, but theres always Crawlaplooza to knock off Gatekeeper.
Have a safe trip home all you Midwest folks "thumbsup"

Last year the drivers were picked by Jason, they were not entered by how well they competed. This year was the best drivers that could go from all of the clubs.

Yeah, but Bender is One of the best. I'm pretty sure he won the Co series.
I just think it's hard to repeat as a National champion. I'd be very surprised if Gatekeeper or anyone else holds on to the title for more then 1 year in a row.
There was still buy in spots, and higher finishers that couldn't or didn't go. I'm still not sure it was purely the best of the best, but a great competition none the less.

EDIT: Looking over the drivers list, it looks like at least 50% of the drivers that qualified this year were there last year.

Bender is a great Champion, he represented himself so well as the Champion for his year. He is always willing to share and help others he really had no secrets. Always friendly and approachable not to mention one of the best thinker/drivers in the game, he will be back.

I have to agree with freetimecrawler about the best of the best, I think some of the best were sitting at home. Most armature racing has the same regional ladder qualification system and there is always a huge talent curve at the Nat's.

Nice videos MNster we can always count on you.

Hey Kevin,

The Midwest Nats are looking really good. They have many of the hobby/sports top competitors signed up right now. That's very good to see, it's great to have some other big events. I hope we see even more. You guys should be there.

I'm fine with any changes to our comp dates , it would be nice to try to get a make up date plugged in for the X Game deletion. :-P If weather becomes a problem it could easily be deleted latter.

You guys do a great job! "thumbsup"

Thanks
Storm

Up-date

I ordered a couple of those new JR 403 oz in servos from Jerry's.
I called yesterday, and they're in "thumbsup"
Since our Super class has gotten so small lately, I figured I'd rebuild the Clod, and start running Supers again. I don't think I'll have it ready yet for tomorrows comp, but I plan on having it ready for Crawlaplooza in 2 weeks. Then it will get a full rebuild over the Winter :)
I picked up an '08' F-250 Super Duty extended cab I was planning on using for a scale project, but I decided to use the '08' F-250 Crew cab instead for the scale project, and I may just use the extended cab for the new Super body.

I've always been a Ford fan, and since I love the looks of the new '08' 1:1 Super Duty, a '08' Super Duty scaler was a no brainer. I'm going to do One of Mike's (EtypeR's) quick 5 day builds, to try to have it ready for the Crawlaplooza scale run "thumbsup" It's going to be based off of Grizzly's 1:1 rig (thanks for the pic's Griz)

Future/Winter plans are in the works for an XJ Cherokee scaler with One of those beautiful XJ bodies from Stefan at Scaleoffroad to mimic my 1:1
Ben (Mnster) has kindly offered to build me a chassis to scale with coil front, and leaf rear. I'm going to take him up on the offer, (thanks Ben "thumbsup")
I foresee a package from Germany around Christmas time :)

I'll also be in the market for a set of Txt axles over the Winter, I need a stout new rig to pull that tandem double place trailer of mine.

The AX10 has a new skin, and some needed, added wheel weight, and is ready for the next comp "thumbsup"

The Hi-Lift, (well, whats left of it) has a new body, and new motor, and should be ready soon.

The Hulk tuber, I'm working on lighting up the light bar with led's.
I'm going to use it as a scaler.

I changed the Losi Claws over to the Axial Roc Star beadlocks for the AX10, (the Green looks better with the AX10) and put some Masher 2k's on the Erickson beadlocks for the tuber. Damn, that was a LOT of screws

I picked up a Novak Brushless racing system from Ryan (Bigballer) a few weeks back, (used it for the Champion Spud run truck) I now have it in my Ferrari, damn, that thing must hit 50 mph
I'm going to bring it out to Kevin's (Nickelpimp) R/C drag racing events One of these days, and see just how fast I can get it "thumbsup"
I'd love to have this set-up in my RC10T factory team edition

The CC-01 Chev is still running and still full of mud from the X-Games "thumbsup"

Enough of me going on.
Anyone else have anything new in the works?

Troy,

Wow you have extensive plans. I'd love one of Stefan's trucks drool green with envy.

I'm still trying to get my comp rig figured out. I have a new Novak Goat to install but that won't happen till after this upcoming comp on Sunday. I'm never in a hurry that's just my nature.

As you know I'm going to build my first scaler over the winter and I have been reading everything I can get my hands on both here @ RCC and on Scale 4x4.

I'm thinking 2.2 and links for a first attempt. I have a Toyota Hilux body kit coming from Corey at RPP that will be my shelf Queen body and I have a Proline Ambush body (Corn Binder) I will do a painting on the outside for my everyday use.

I've had a infection for most of the summer so most importantly I look forward to better health.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. "thumbsup"

does anyone know where i can get tlt suspension stays? nobody has them in stock and they are the only piece i need that i cant get. just this small part could delay the running of the tuber until next year. i haven't gotten the tuber yet because i couldn't make last comp because my dad decided to sleep in because it was raining. once i get the tuber chassis i just need to get four 4" shocks, 80 and 100 weight shock oil, a can of rustoleum, some 6-32 threaded rod, various sets of springs from the hardware store for internal springs, a new aluminum servo arm, and maybe some screws for mounting links and shocks. i hope to have it built before the next comp.

too far and my dad doesnt want to order from them over the phone for some reason. they also charge $8 shipping which i think is too much for 4 shocks, 2 bottles of shock oil, and some link mounts. if someone down there were willing to pick them up down there i could possibly send them a check and then they could ship them via ups for cheaper than rc car kings. when i checked over a week ago they had some in stock but i do not know if they still do. it is too late to call them so i will try tomorrow. i would have to clear my idea of having troy or anyone else down there mail me them. perhaps ryan could pick them up because he will hopefully be shipping the tuber soon anyway and he lives down there.

Man I sure wish there was more than 2 events left, me and Steve are planning on the next comp but I can't seam to talk him in to making the last gtg but I am going to try to schedule a trip down with my wife and dump her off with her sister-:) Now that I have my rig all assembled and ready I don't have many excuses not to make a few more next year.
