any crawlers in MN?

What should I look for when buying a brushless set up? I will be putting on in the 2.2. I want to know what specs to look for.

Thanks

Quark 33a pro car esc and either the black revolver or crawlmaster. I would not look at anything else, the RR2 is underpowered I feel and the mamba 25 doesn't have the control.

If the price of this setup is to much for you, stick with brushed motors until this fits your budget.

its been a while and my crawler is still not fixed. i still have to find a way to get my tmaxx yokes to stay on my tlt pinion. 2 set screws didn't work and it is a little small to drill through. my dad is a machinist and said he may be able to burn a hole through the pinion shaft. i hope i can get it working soon.:-( and i have to use t-maxx yokes because stampede ones do not fit my tranny. anyone have any ideas?

Check out The Crawler Store BM9 1005 kv motor (gold can) and a Mamba 25 you will also need a motor mount just over $100 great performance and reasonably priced.

Motor 28.99
Mount 8.00
Mamba 25 76.99
Total $113.98

You can't hardly go brushless for less.

The best option for you Tony would be Traxxas part # 4628x
hardened steel yokes. Even if you get your hole in the pinion shaft, the plastic doesn't hold up in competition.

I beg to differ Troy on the plastic yokes. Thats all I've ran this season and haven't broken any of them even with the crawlmaster motor.

I'm going to side with Troy on that, the white plastic ones just cannot take the abuse. However, traxxas just released new black ones with their new brushless trucks might want to give those a try.

I run maxx shafts, I just drilled a hole through the pinion shaft.

I have never turned a shaft end and I run Maxx shafts with 2 set screws. Running brushless with 8 cells and dig, never turned one. I have broke axles from torque, too. Not sure what to say Tony. You can modify the Losi outdrives to use stampede driveshafts, I have done it for a scaler of mine. You will need new plastic outdrives (about $5 from Jerry's RC) and the stampede driveshaft.

Thanks,
Casey

I'd have to say you've been pretty lucky then. I can't keep them together even on the H-L.

I tried the new black plastic ones last time on the H-L the 2 set screws weren't enough to hold them on. I went out and bought the metal yokes for it.

i am running maxx shafts and they can take the abuse. the yoke just wouldn't stay on the pinion gear shaft. my dad is taking both my pinions to work to burn a hole in them with electricity and then round it out to the right size with a wire EDM machine that also cuts with electrical current. my only worry is the distance to the hole from the end. if they break i will just have an excuse to buy stainless steel pinions and put holes in them. i have only missed 1 comp due to this problem. the 1 month break was a good thing for me. everything else is fine on my crawler currently. and once i can get my yokes to stay on i wont have problems with popped drive shafts like people with the stampede shafts do. I'm glad my dad is a good machinist.

Losi Rock Lizards in Stock!!!

Hey all, I just got a call from Paul. He says that they've got a bunch of the Losi Rock Lizards in today at R/C Car Kings. I know Troy hasn't gotten any sleep since these were announced. And I know someone who already picked up a set from them today.(no not me)

Those of you that have 2.2 bead locks. Do you have/put a hole in your rims for air to enter/escape? I just got a set of Axial beadlocks and I was trying to figure out what I should do. Also do any of you run foams with them? How about foams with Masher 2Ks.

Thanks

I will probibly be at the comp tomorrow.

Hey Kevin,

Do youy mean Rock Claws or Rock Lizards ?

I might have to take a run.

Storm'

My bad. It's the Losi Rock Claws...not the lizards. I was thinking Axial. So there's no confusion...

Troy tried them out today, and they weren't too bad. They seemed to grip pretty well. If you put them on a narrow rim (say about 1.5 inches wide) the side tread really sticks out. And they're soft like Prolines.

anyone intrested in goin otu sometime this week? i lengthened my wheelbase to 12ish and got my 96 spur and 15 pinion set up so i want to see what else i have to tweak. im open all week

Hey guys, we only have about 16 days left until the X-Games. We have some foam blocks to carve and coat by then. A few of us have started on them, but there is plenty left to do. We are also trying to get more blocks to have a larger course. We need more people to step up and help out, or we will be crawling on just loose rocks like last year. The more people that help out, the faster it will go. Please post up if & when you can help out. Thank you.
