Debunking old stereotypes
Well, after a tear down of the Hi-Lift, I've decided to scrap the 3 speed in favor of a Pede. Since the stock frame rails are straight, I can't find a suitable location to mount the Pede tranny low enough for my liking. I've enlisted the help of Cole to build me a new frame with a drop in the center. I'm going to bolt up the HL axles, leafs/shocks, right to the new frame.
I know with the leafs it won't be that capable, but I like the look of the leafs on a scaler. I haven't decided if I'm going to use the flattbed and winch on the back, or what I'll use yet? I just got tired of the weight and low belly with the stock 3 speed tranny. As much as I enjoy scale trail running, the HL just wasn't cutting it the way it was. I've also got a new DX7 coming Fri, and a Hulk tuber the end of the month, which I'll need a lot of parts for. I'm trying to keep this build using as many stock HL parts as possible.
I start adding up the cost of this hobby, and the parts I need for new projects, and this seems to be more of an obsession then a hobby ;-)
New DX7, of course to make the full use of it, I'll need duel ESC's on the clod, might as well go duel brushless
New Hulk tuber, Might as well do it right, Fattrock axle C's, aluminum knuckles, CVD's, R2 tranny (hopefully w/rear disconnect) Erickson beadlocks, brushless combo
etc.
Full on Scale XJ roller w/Robbe axles from Germany.
Linked ladder frame waterproof scaler/mudder of some sort.
Brushless set-up for the RC10 T-4 factory team.
