any crawlers in MN?

well i pm'd him this morning and his reply was that he shipped it a couple days ago via priority mail. when we were making the deal he said he would ship it the next day priority mail, which would of been last thursday the 19th. only a week late. so on monday while i'm awaiting its arrival, i'll start painting the two body's i ordered, but i still haven't decided what designs to paint them. the 2 body's i ordered are the proline chevy c10 and silverado hd concept.

Well, you've got a week yet to get the truck before our next comp. I'm sure it'll come by then. Hopefully in time to look it over, test it out some before then.

I went down to the Mississippi River Park, and did about 2 1/2 hours of practice today. I think this was the first trip there I didn't break something on my crawler
I did trash the High Lift though on a pretty bad 25' fall. The body came through intact, I lost One mirror and a part to the light bar. I pretty much thrashed it back up to the truck, cause I was pissed that I wrecked it. I think it's going to turn into a new trail beater, without the 3 speed tranny.
I think I have that new torsion 2.2 about set up how I like it. I took the hardest lines I could find today, and walked through them all. And it's still in One piece "thumbsup"
If this truck isn't competitive in our comp series, it's going to be all driver error.
Thats why I'm going to do at least an hour a day of practice driving. Some people jog./run daily, I'll crawl for my workout "thumbsup"

I'll be back down there tomorrow practicing, if anyone wants to come down?

Map to crawl/trail run spot. Mississippi Park.
We are actually going to be parking in the lot at 36th and West River Parkway about
3 blocks from the star on the map.

From I-94 take the Cretin/Vandalia exit south to Marshall Ave, which turns into Lake St as you cross the bridge. Turn right and go across the Mississippi River bridge. Take the first left on the Minneapolis side of the bridge. That leads you to West River Parkway. Go South about 6 blocks to the parking lot on West River Parkway and 36th st.

From Crosstown/Hwy 62 Go East to Hiawatha/Minnahaha Ave exit. Take Hiawatha to 42nd St and go right/East to West River Parkway, then left/North 6 blocks to the 36th St West River Parkway lot.

hey troy , i was thinkin about running out to Battle Creek Park on thursday if ya wanna meet up , so far it might be me , Paul(faraki), and Chris(intimidation) and anyone else is more than welcome to come out and check it out if anyone wants PM me and i'll give ya my #

I have been to Battle creek many times with my mountain bikes... There are some trails that could be fun with the scale trucks, but there can be bike traffic since they are bike trails. Cant be quite the walk to find a decent play area too, though the north side of the park sees much less bike traffic then the south side, and its very hilly on the north side as well.

Not much for rock though, just a bit of sand stone here and there.

I will be working some more on the FJ40 tomorrow, thinking about building some half doors for it. Gonna make a template tomorrow, and start cutting. If all goes well, might even be able to weld up the tops and paint them :)

I was just reading the local neighborhood paper. Accourding to The Friends Of The Mississippi www.fmr.org That gorge at Mississippi River Park is the only one on the Mississippi. I just found that kinda interesting, and something I didn't realize.
Yesterday when I was there, a big Barred Owl flew into a tree about 25' from the dog and I. I wasn't sure if he had his eye on the dog? or the little crawler creeping down the trail? I kept my eye on him too. I also saw 3 Turkey Vultures ridding the wind flying above us. I'm going to bring my cam from now on. I guess I never realized it was such a nature sanctuary down there, to me it's just a nice place to hike, trail run, and practice my crawling.
I'll be down there from about Noon to about 2-3 pm if anyone feels like a hike/trail run/crawl.

Thought I'd let some of the MN guys know that I've got a few things in the For-Sale section, for those that may be interested. I'm just cleaning up house, and consolidating.
If anyone is interested, i'd be willing to drop the prices a bit to accomidate for the fact that I can be picked up locally, at a comp, or delivered cheaper because it's delivered close.

Here's a link to the Tires & Wheels one: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70047
Moabs w/ Cheyenne Naorrow bead-Locs, Giant Tracs over HPI Maxx wheels, 2.2 Red Rocks on narrowed Pede rears, TXT/Clod Outbacks - NEW, 2.2 RoK Rings(5).

And the other stuff I'm selling isn't actually up yet (I made the thread, but hasn't been OK'd yet, and posted). I'm selling my TCS Stick Chassis from my Clod, A pair of Maxx Axles, TQ3 with the rear steer mod, Duratrax Intellipeak charger, etc... I'll post up the link when It's actually up."thumbsup"

I should probably do that more often my self.... I have to much junk :)

Would hate to see you get out of crawling, you are a great driver "thumbsup"

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Andy's ad. I was/am suprised to see that stick FS. That seemed to perform pretty darn well. Do I sense a new crawler project from Adogg??

Well, I finally got around to tweaking the suspension in an effort to improve the climbing ability and I'm pretty happy with the results. Here is a video showing my post-tweak testing:

The obstacles are not much (just landscape rocks in my backyard) but keep in mind that it would NOT climb 90% of those before the adjustments...

I’m going too try too make it to your MNRCrawles comp this weekend. I don’t have a comp vehicle but maybe I can get some insight on how to make my crawler better. Do you guys meet in the parking lot right next to the river? I think it’s where you park for the paddle boat rides. It’s been some time since I’ve been thru that area.

We park in the lot to the right of the paddle boat lot. Same entrance, just stay right. You won't miss the big group of guys standing around with their RC trucks.

c'mon on out , i'm still make'n changes to trucks and this is my 2nd year:lol:

ya can learn a lot from these fellas"thumbsup" i have

Well, I got a lot of good advice from several of you at the first comp. Looking forward to the next one to really test things out...

I was changing so many things on my trucks for the first half of the season last year, and almost every change made a big difference. Its fun tuning it in, and seeing positive results "thumbsup"

If your crawling is running, bring it and run it in the comp :) A lot of people in our club start out with more of a backyard basher crawler then a pure comp rig. No matter what you bring, its still fun to compete with it, its free "thumbsup" And you will learn a lot more about what changes you should make to be more competitive if you run your rig in the comp. I really want to see some of your work in action too.
