$1.50/gal Gas

Damned straight, just paid $1.64/litre for premium :x:x:x quit ya bleat'in :flipoff:
I think its hilarious that you guys think that $1.50us a gallon is expensive.

Current Australian fuel prices are AUD$1.47/liter...So roughly $6us/gallon.(AUD$1.55+ for 98octane).

You guys have some of the cheapest fuel in the world and you still think its too high...:lmao::lmao:

Prior administrations had felt that affordable crude was part of national security and would not allow crud to be traded on the futures market.QUOTE]

It really is a matter of national security now. While binaryterror constantly complains about it, it really is the only thing keeping America going. Saudis and Kuwaitis ensure the dollar is used so they get maximum profits, so the dollar is practically backed by oil. It sounds akin to Mafia tactics.

If they switch currency, the US will be hit hard.

ThinkTank, let me know if I need to explain this one to you.

No, I get the stupidness of it.

I really do not understand the complaining about the price you americans have to pay for the gas.
Here in Holland I pay 2.37 US Dollars for 1 litre gasoline

1 gallon = 3,78541178 liter

So here in Holland the price for 1 US gallon gasoline is 8 US dollars

So what you have to pay for you gas in the USA right now is very cheap

Wow....the ability to read is lost on you Aussies...:ror:
Nope, I read the thread, then went back and re read your posts, and my statement still stand, ya got nothing to bleat about. :flipoff:

Your petrol is cheap compared to just about everywhere in the world.

The only reason it is not cheaper still, is U.S policy greed, "well use theirs first & complin at the same time"

Oh and one sure fire, GUARANTEED way to change the system ya ain't happy with, try voting!!!!

How many of the bleeding hearts voted in your local/state/federal elections?

Fair go guys, you cant expect much sympathy on this one. "thumbsup"

How much tax is on each liter of fuel you buy in Holland? What is that tax money used for?

Why do people still talk about a carb myth that fixes everything when they don't understand combustion engines? You still need a specific gas/air ratio to properly work...no matter what you do to a carb or injection, the end fact is current combustion designs are inefficient beasts.

Agreed. The stoich ratio has to met for the fuel being used. Current OEMs program their vehicles to run the ragged edge of stoich as much as possible to save fuel. The injectors are shut off during engine braking and the A/F ratio leaned out as much as possible during light or off throttle situations. The OEMs are trying.

.

over 60% is tax.
and it does not matter where that money is used for. its purpose does not make the gasoline cheaper..
that money flows directly in to the gouvernment.

I also pay taxes when I buy a new car.
I also pay seperate taxes ( wich are used to make new roads )

so, again. In the USA the gas is not expensive :flipoff:

edit: some explanantion about taxes and cars and ownership .

also the taxes imposed on new cars are extremely high at up to 45% of the list price, and are not refundable

Motoring-related Taxes

The BPM (Bijzondere Verbruiksbelasting van Personenauto's) tax is payable by the first owner of a new car or motorcycle or one imported to the Netherlands from another country, in order to register the vehicle in their name. The vehicle must be approved for use in the Netherlands by the Vehicle Technology and Information Centre (Rijksdienst voor Wegverkeer or “RDW”), which involves submitting the vehicle for testing to an approved RDW centre, along with relevant documentation including the registration certificate and a certificate of conformity to EU standards if necessary. Once received from the RDW, the BPM certificate of approval must be sent to the relevant section of the Tax Office which calculates the amount of tax payable, including the BPM as well as any VAT and import duties, and will issue the Dutch vehicle registration certificate (kentekenbewijs) once these are paid.

All owners of passenger cars, delivery vans with a maximum allowed loaded weight of 3,500 kg and motorcycles are also required to pay road tax on an ongoing basis, from the data of purchase or transfer of ownership of the vehicle. The bills are sent out automatically by the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Taxes and you can opt to pay either on an annual basis or by four three-monthly installments. The tax rates are determined by the type of vehicle, any modifications made to it, and the type of fuel used and vary by different provinces of the Netherlands. Additional taxes are payable for trailers whose maximum permitted weight is in excess of 750 kg, but not for static or collapsible caravans. A refund may be made if you sell the vehicle within a period for which the road tax has already been paid. If you are unable to use the vehicle for an extended period, for example if you are living temporarily in a different country, the road tax is still payable, but for periods of more than three months you can apply for a suspension of the registration certificate for a fee, during which time you will not be allowed to drive the vehicle and road tax will not be charged. The tax will become payable for the entire period if the suspension is ended within three months. If the vehicle is taken out of the Netherlands for good, you must notify the RDW or the customs authorities in order to have the Dutch registration certification terminated, and may receive a refund of road tax.

Yes, because we have WAY more refineries than any other country in the world. Remember, stuff isnt gonna be cheap if we have to ship it halfway across the world to you guys.

Ummm...not sure what you mean by that...I have voted in every single election (both local and federal) for the past 15 years. But, thanks for the unfounded accusations...

Oh, and RUNOVRU is also the dumbass that thought not buying gas from one station will prove to the world that we need a change in our system. "thumbsup":ror:

Ummm, I take it from your quick witted and informed response, that you have a rudimentary understanding of the English language, care to explain to me and the rest of the forum exactly what my "unfounded accusations" were? Word for word if you don't mind.

Sure.....you made the assumption that I dont vote....and accused me of being part of a group of people responsible for the stagnant drilling policy in this country. Hence the term, "unfounded accusations"...

It sure as hell does matter what that tax money is used for. A lot of countries pay inflated gas prices because the tax money is used to fund socialized programs, like healthcare. Here in the US we pay for our healthcare and other entitlements seperatley. We may pay less per gallon for fuel but we have to foot the bill for healthcare and those other programs. We pay taxes on a new car purchase in most states and we all pay taxes to fund roads and other infrastructure as well. The money has to come from somewhere, here the US the money just does not come from gasoline taxes.
