1/5 scale VW beetle Losi rzr rey based

Nice tabs. (No credit to me they're a Tamiya part) Are the gear ratios f/r similar? (Both ends will use summit diffs) These are two separate builds, you know! Just letting the cat out the bag a bit. Rough setup:
20220708_232722.jpgAs for axles, good call. Summits will get you about 40* in angularity and use the same spline format as the Revo u joint stuff. 6mm axles.
(Not using revo driveshaft, as they are too chunky for the rear arms.) Burning the clear anno off while welding makes for toxic fumes. What do you get for wheel travel? ( I am u sure yet but plan on using Losi LST ramminator stub axles.
They are 6mm with left/right hand thread nut on the ends depending on the side of the truck)

For the front suspension I'd like to use some of the leftovers from this RZR rey, as I ordered the new Baja rey 2.0 dual shock arms and will add 2 shocks to this build.

"Summit diff ratio is 37/13 and the BR/HR/RZR REY is 42/12, or 40/14
So if I did want to use the Losi suspension, I would have to buy the 40/14=(2.8571428571) gearset as that would get me closest to the summit 37/13=(2.8461538462) ratio AGAIN this is for the OTHER build.

This VW bug is keeping the rzr rey's diffs front and back.

I am deleting the stock trans, and replacing it with the summit trans as you see it centered in front of the rear diff.

Additional, i am going to install a summit differential, however, transverse, right in front of the transmission. The diff will be missing the pinion and related bearings, but the rest of the internals will be present. This way i have servo switchable RWD,4WD or AWD 4WD in a sense depending on the weight of silicone oils I put in that diff

So, minimal update and a big mess in my garage 20241004_093930.jpgi have new stuff, old stuff, here, there. 20241004_093942.jpg everywhere! 20241004_103137.jpg
The front suspension bits and the rpm bumper for the baja rey 2.0 showed up. The arms fit with about 2-3mm shaved off. However, the rpm bumper connects to the shock tower on th BR differently 20241004_103128.jpg differently than on the RZR.
20241004_111537.jpgNow I need to figure that out. Maybe an alloy baja rey 2.0 shocktower. I really don't want to spend $20 for plastic parts!

Bought a few parts while this has been sitting on the backburner. Some rando brando alloy shock tower, a steering rack from rcAwd, and some other alloy bits and bobbs. Also a standard baja/rock rey upper brace. Fingers crossed it fits over a rzr/hammer/baja rey 2.0 bulkhead, as I found out they're a little bit different than a rock/baja rey 1.0 (bottom only iirc)
The brace is shaped differently and wraps around the front bulkhead and gives a mounting point for that bumper.

On a sidenote i scored a set of alloy shock towers for my rock rey, so I will try to put a hammer rey rear bulkhead on this, and the plastic stock towers from the rock rey. That will lower the "mock-up" height to a much better "look", which should help with cage werk.
