Axial Teaser - Any Guesses?

My Ryft is converted into 4 link as a rock crawler and does quite well. Dropped in a Vanquish 3 gear and small outrunner motor. I wonder if this cage would work with the Ryft skid.

Find this post hilarious folks, been on this place long enough to know, no matter what ya get offered ... ya'll always bitch when something new is offered  the joys of online and opinions :ROFLMAO:
Then there are always the people that counter by bitching just for the sake of bitching. That's what you're doing. At least we are offering constructive criticism. Where's your feedback?

What's so new about this rig? Axial had the cutting brake prototype with the XR10 or whatever it was over a decade ago. They didn't release it for some reason. I'm guessing it didn't work reliability. I expect this same unreliable operation on this cutting brake.

If you think that was me bitching then we have different ideas on that matter. My feedback is irrelevant Jato as I haven't personally tried one like most so far but I do like the rig personally.

I for one, really like the idea of a cutting break. I don't expect it to be perfect (just like their Dig on scx10.3) but really not as bad when in use and has been set-up a bit better than out-the-box. Since I missed out the old Capra, I can see me owning this rig at some point in the future.

The rig has some neat features. Hopefully the rtr's will be refined as the prototypes are all I've seen. ASD front and rear is cool as well as front and rear dig in the trans. If these options came included a kit version that would be awesome. It might be enough for me to buy 1 as a kit.

at least the front axle is cheap enough. lets just hope the pinion is 5mm and the rear center section can be used. the upper links mount on the front axle are... txt vibes..

The cutting brake is neat. The videos I watched showed that it works well but gets stuck in high traction situations and you have to hit reverse to release it. Josh said Axial is going to have stronger springs to help with that, but a stronger servo will be required. It is also nice that they have a whole array of upgrades to release with it. Aluminum panels, brass, dig, etc. I think that is one area where Axial has really fell behind the competition is by not offering a ton of upgrades for their trucks.

There are already some upgrade parts from Axial popping up. I think this is great to see, If I ever got one I'd grab some of these.

Overdrive gears: Axial AXP8 32P Overdrive Ring and Pinion - 13T / 38T

Portal cover weights and knuckles Axial AXP8 AF16P Portal Knuckles - Brass Axial AXP8 AF16P Portal Cover and Weights - Brass

Aluminum motor mount: Axial AXP8 / AT6 Aluminum Transmission Motor Plate

Aluminum panel set Axial Gilamon AXP8 Aluminum Body Panel Set

West Desert Wheeler also put up a review of the Gilamon. Apparently he provided a bit of design input to Axial which is cool to hear. He definitely did more of a glass half full review compared to others.

EDIT: I've also been curious if anyone has heard an explanation of what the half circle cutouts are on the front of the door panels, anyone know?

This rig is starting to interest me. I look at it to be really similar in size to my Gmade GOM, but I’d feel more comfortable pushing it harder than I do my GOM. GOM parts certainly can be had, but nowhere as easily accessible as Axial parts.

I've joined this hobby when the OG scx10 was already around and saw the release of the Wraith...
But since then I've noticed that every Axial release is met with hate and criticism. Seems like Axial misses the mark everytime(or just looks that way, seeing the comments on social media and foruns)

I don't see that kind of negativity for other brands

Axial released another toy for us to play. We are free to buy it or not

While I can understand the negativity with this release in particular, I honestly think that Axial has been doing pretty good with their releases overall in the last few years. The Capra is a great crawler, both the 1/10 and 1/18. I loved my UTB18 and my dad's UTB10 4WS has been a great truck. The Bomber was a great truck too, my only complaint with it is the odd steering geometry on the AR60s, but that doesn't even effect the driving all that much. The SCX3 has been awesome, and while it has its fair share of design flaws (panhard mounts, etc), it's still a solid platform and it's been dead reliable (at least for me). The SCX6 sounds like an amazing truck, and I really like the idea of it. The SCX10 pro seems like a pretty good performer from what I've seen, and the Base Camp looks like a really good budget option for a brand new trail truck. The SCX2 re-release in my opinion was a nice refresh, and it means the platform will still have factory support for at least a little while longer. I really don't know why they get as much negativity as they do. Sure, they could probably do better, but they're still putting out a pretty decent product either way. And even for the quality control issues that they have, in my experience the Horizon guys were very communicative and fixed the issue free of charge, multiple times. The only issues I've ever had with Axial trucks were the Spektrum electronics, not the Axial hardware.

There is plenty of criticism going around for most brands. Axial probably gets a bit more because they are the most widely known and they have been in this game the longest. It is frustrating when they do a big build up for a release, acting like it is going to be something new and cool, then it ends up being a new color Deadbolt. This probably would have received a warmer response if it were not an odd size and was a little more refined.

I think it is not an odd size. Tubular chassis can be a bit tight to work on . A bigger size makes sense, even makes it more capable. Someone above said that it would need to run it on a offroad park due to it's size. I think it is a bit overreacting

I said that. Thats because its the only local place we have with a large area of tough terrain. Our other places are fairly small. Theyre good enough for c1 and c2 comps, but not really adequate for trail stuff or something this large. Would get boring quick.
