The wait is over. With the AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 RTR, Axial introduces the next level in RC rock crawling performance. It’s the most innovative and maneuverable rig you’ve ever seen.
A true rock crawler, the Gilamon isn’t made for overlanding or easy “Sunday” drives. With its 2.2-inch wheel setup and new AXP8 platform, this RC crawler has no match on the most challenging trails and obstacles. Because it’s ready-to-run, you don’t need experience to succeed. But if you have spent a lot of time on the trails, you’ll be blown away by what you can do now that was impossible before.
What’s so revolutionary about the AXP8? Let’s start with its heavy-duty, high-clearance, front and rear AF16P portal axles - and especially the rear-axle ASD (Axial Selectable Drive), a more advanced and highly capable drivetrain version of cutting brakes. While cutting brakes are only as strong as the brakes themselves, ASD physically and completely locks a wheel. It’s better than cutting brakes. And unlike front dig, which locks the entire axle, ASD can lock either of the rear wheels individually. That gives you an even tighter turning radius and greatly improved maneuvering capabilities.
The AF16P front axle and advanced new AT6 transmission are also designed to accept optional ASD setups, giving you an unprecedented amount of vehicle control. With ASD assigned to a 3-position switch on your transmitter, you can activate locking or constant 4WD functions. Using a 5-position switch, you’ll be able to configure the ASD system to drive, to free wheel, or to lock.
No RC crawler has offered this level of sophistication before. Nothing can stand in your way. The AT6 transmission is also equipped with a 30% underdrive to the rear axle that dramatically improves climbing and increases maneuverability.
Further improving the rig’s trail performance are the extreme articulation of its 4-link suspension and the additional clearance of its realistic, new IS10 internal spring shocks. An oversized, high torque Axial Boulder 550 21-turn brushed motor sends power through durable, heavy-duty WB12 driveshafts to officially licensed Raceline Avenger wheels and 5.5-inch tall Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T tires. Surrounding it all is a durable composite cage that offers protection and challenge-ready trail buggy looks.
The included Spektrum DX3 radio and Firma 70A ESC give you the telemetry benefits of exclusive Smart technology. Other high-quality, factory-installed Spektrum on-board electronics include a SR515 5-channel DSMR receiver, S682 metal gear steering servo, and SX117AX metal gear micro servo for the ASD function. Just add your choice of recommended battery and charger - then you’re ready to take on any obstacle that lies ahead.
Get ready to go where no crawler has gone before with the Axial AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 RTR. It’s the king of the hill, the trail, the canyon, the ledge, and everything else off-road!
