WSM G2G planning/ chit- chat

I would be in for Monday maybe sometime. I will be in Silver Lake saturday and sunday hopefully. Jim if you guys end up doing something send me a text and let me know. Thanks

Now the forecast is:
Sat, 70 p cloud
Sun, 75 p cloud
Mon, 80 sunny

If we wait until Monday, my vote would be earlier, around 9am, so I can get back by noonish for family fun.

Freakin USPS Mail. I sent a CC BEC back in March for repair. Paid $2 for First Class Mail. Would have to bump to Priority for $4 + 2 Ins. + $0.75 tracking to have any safety net. So I went the cheap route and of course it got lost!
Got another one coming in trade, but it's still $25 lost!

Monday it 'tis! I meet pretty much anywhere.

What does Paris look like? Today might look swamped, but by Monday might look better.

Your welcome at my place. Really not a big area though. Might be enough for an hour or so of trying different lines.
Could always pile in my car and head to Holland state park for 30-45mins, then back to my house. Pier has HUGE super sized rocks along the pier. You scale run 2-3 rocks then helicopter to the next.

Family stuff will drag me away by noon.

One day this summer I wouldn't mind hitting the state park in Grand Haven. Maybe eeeearly on a Sunday when it's not busy. Not a lot, but there is some fun scaling across and between the bigger rocks near the pier.
I have been seriously considering stopping at the local "CHIPS" groundcover shop on a Sunday and running their rocks for sale! They have a LOT and different types piled behind their shop. They prob wouldn't like me moving stuff around though  This pic doesn't do it justice.

With Monday, 80 and Sunny, beach will be BUSY.
Would not have a problem at 9am or sooner. Would be plenty of gaukers watching us.
Pic below shows the State park, and Ottawa Beach Rd. to the East.
Areas Orange. From left to right, Pier, Handicap fishing spot, Township Park (with 20 parking spots).
I have State park stickers on both vehicles.

Start early at the beach and work our way back East?
Then check out my area later in the morning or as we get bored?

8:30 would be great if it is not too early for others.

Park area will get really busy by 11am. We'll want to be out of there before that.
Worth walking and checking out by the pier. Keep in mind that scalers will not find it friendly at all. Start there and work our way back.
The township park I showed back to the east from the state park is very scaler friendly. The little parking lot by it will fill fast.

Family showing up Noonish, so we could spend an hour back at my place before we break.

Wouldn't mind showing you guys the area at 16th st. on your way out of town, so you can see if it is worth it.
Water might be higher now, but when it is down, there are some golf to volley ball sized rocks in an area 30x30 in the rapids, with rooted banks around it.

F150 is running well, but short WB makes it limited.
JK is running well now, but I am leery of the TLTs under the 12lb weight blowing up again. Need to remedy that in the future.
MOG is running but rollovers have broken the hardbody mounts to the chassis. I fixed them, but they'll break again fast. Working on a cage for it.

Sweet I will see if we can make it by about 9 or so. I could just meet you guys down at the state park too. Let me know what works best I will check here tomorrow night and see whats up.

If anyone has a spare Axial knuckle, could they bring it along?
I just need to make some measurements and hold it in place on an "out of the box" project I am thinking over.

So 8:30/9ish. By 9, rolling out to the park area for a bit, then back here for an hour or so, til noon.
I'll check this when I get up, so PM me if you can't make it, or need directions.

Going to PM Jim, Scott, and Dan right after this with directions and phone numbers.

I got a spare aluminum one. I wont be around, but when ever you want it you can have it"thumbsup"

Wow, GREAT time today guys! The pier was better then I expected!
After you guys left, we went up to Grand Haven until 7pm. We need to do that next! The rocks are better then those today, from the state parking lot closest to the pier, out to the pier itself. Big and flat. Some spots to helicopter, but not as many as today. Lots of places have sand and dune grass between them.

I took more pics today and will post them later.

Thx Jeepkid, just needed it for a measurement. Jim brought one with him.

About 100 yards of the stuff below.
Would need to go EARLY. GH state park is a zoo (even more then Holland) by 10am+. Figure meet at 8, there? Maybe Sunday?
