Wraith Beginners Guide

Another quick question. I am buying a second set of wheels & tires more for crawling then fun. Alum. beadlock wheel and Hot Bodies Rover tires. Should I go with the soft or the medium compound? What are the pro's and con's of the tow compunds? I will use the stock wheels & tires from the RTR version for around the yard fun. Thanks for the help. Allen

Comp crawlers use softs, mediums offer more support. You'll have to decide what's most important to you.

what do you guys do in between the rear shocks when u move the battery up front and use the stock battery tray?? should u put a brace in there or is ok??

I haven't made the move yet but when I do, I will be putting a brace in there. I have seen many members here put braces there. Some have used plastic. Some aluminum tubes and even one had a block going across.

Hello I am thinking of building the Wraith and would like to see options on installing a dig? Also pro's and con's between the options. I searched and didn't see anything about it.

Until something better comes along, swapping in a trans case from an AX10 and using a VP hurtz dig is the best option.

Great thanks! I was looking at the VP But didn't realize I needed the AX10 trans case.

Whats the first thing I should do to my new Wraith to make it lower geared and have more torque, any motor suggestions and gearing would be very helpful.

Thanks for your help, I will read the Wraith Beginners Guide, and will have many questions for you in the future, this forum is awesome I wish my Wraith was here,One other quick question what do you think of the PITBull 2.2 Rock Beast Tires, for somewhat all around tire but mainly Crawler tires?

For braces between the upper shock mounts, stock AX-10 upper links are about perfect. Use one of the 2mm thick plastic shims that comes on the parts tree and a couple 3x30mm bolts and wala, cheap stiffness.

I'm running these front and rear. I can still sneak my 5000mah 20c 2s pack underneath, but only because I have the upper mount flipped. In the front it won't clear the lid for the stock electronics box.

Re: Wraith Beginners Guide - Updated 8/1/11

Just found this, im guessing that this is what everyone is building in order to make this work?

Step by Step Wraith Kit Build - Part VII - Electronics Install

Okay, i did this mod on moving the batery up front and under the hood, not ive run into a few problems.
1. some of the wires are too short? How do you guys remedy that? Splice in longer pieces of wire?
2. where do i mount the esc? Im using the rtr wraith esc and motor.

I did what "Bender" did... I cut the stock battery tray in half and mounted it up front.. Then I made my own rear plate out of a sheet of aluminum.. I screwed it in the stock battery location.. I made it the full size of all the space available in there.. I then apply Velcro to the entire plate. I put Velcro on my ESC and BEC and stick them there.. I made an extension for my battery plug and ran it on the outside of the passenger seat along the floor.. I bought servo extensions from my LHS for all the leads coming from my RX.. I do this for 2 reasons.. 1. To make it reach, and 2. To allow me to make changes without getting into the RX box.. ESC and BEC programming. Is easy as pie and a servo change takes just minutes..
