WLToys Clone Hammers Budget Build

One of the problems that I've had with the truck is that because of the ball stud on the shift servo and on the shift linkage, when I shifted the whole linkage would contort instead of staying linear, which would prevent it from shifting sometimes. Today I whipped up a new link that works like a clevis with a servo arm so that it has to stay linear. The truck shifts much better now!

I just can't believe that WLToys would go to such great lengths to copy the design down to the small mold details that you see all over the parts. Things like rod ends have exactly the same cosmetic details. Parts have the same mold lines, etc. When a company is going to build a cheap copy of something, they don't put that kind of effort into the tiny details. It seems way more likely that this vehicle is being made by the same OEM in the same molds. The unknown is why. Did Horizon's exclusivity run out, or did WLToys "steal" it? I don't know of any other spot-on clones that WLToys makes, so it still seems more likely to me that they were the OEM for the Twin Hammers.

Purely speculation on my part though.

Looks like i missed responding to this one last year lol...purely ripped off our design. With the exception of some ECX products, we own all tooling and design our own vehicles in house. Its very rare that we have a vendor design a vehicle for us and even if so, we own exclusive rights to our designs, molds etc.

Just figure i would clear this up...this company literally "back poured our car"

One more thing, WLToys (or the main company for them) does not make any product for Horizon.

What’s that budget RC Horizon has out? Revolution or Evolution or what ever. I have a Remo, another Chinese, that is nearly as identical as the WLToys to the THanmers. Had it for nearly a year before the budget RCs came out.

You mean the Force RC line? As far as I can tell, most if not all of those are HSP vehicles.

Rich, thanks for the clarification on the WLToys vehicle. Had I known that it was a stolen design I would have reconsidered my purchase.

Any body have the differential bearing sizes? I believe the Vaterra may be 13mm vs 12mm for the 10428
