What did you do to your TRX-4 today?

So I've been out of it for 3 decades but I'm getting back in full throttle. Started again recently with an RGT Rock Cruiser I put away 2 years ago and forgot I had. Doh! Well, it needs work and I love the IH Scout 2 so I bought a Gen 8. Been working on it but that's for another thread. More importantly I had little to no money left when I came across the TRX-4 Defender Adventure Edition. Had to have it... bought it on PayPal credit . Get 6 months of no interest if I'm a good boy ;-).
Well I'll just say that the Adventure body is so nice I simply can't run it. Yup, I'm saving it for nice trails and weather :ror:.

Now I had a naked chassis. I needed a body to run rough and tumble. Looked at used Defender bodies and didn't think much of them and too expensive for what you get. Also too expensive for a new one with all the pieces. So off to lumidave35 on eBay to see what he had. Alas the only thing he had for this wheelbase is the Tactical Unit body. Not the prettiest thing and even borderline ugly. A shiny tac vehicle? Blacked out windows, yuck.
So he had a couple left and seeing some possibilities I bought it. On PayPal credit of course. Bad boy .
I headed to Club5 Racing for a few items that I had seen before I bought the body. Headed to eBay for some paint. It is important for me to say that I live too far from any city or hobby shop to buy locally and support them. I'd like to. Got some Chinese alloy wheels and Pit Bull Tires (on the vehicle in photo). Off to a good start.

OK, so now onto why I'm posting here on this thread. I got some stuff done on the body. Dulled down that hideous shiny camo with Tamiya Flat Clear PS-55 for Lexan. Wow, this thing actually has some nice lines and angles when you can see it clearly. Camo is starting to look better but the body needs a little less; break it up some. On to some Tamiya Rubber Black TS-82. It is very safe and works nicely to paint over polycarb paint with lacquer. I always use lacquers and enamels and such. And no, not for the buzz. I took a risk on the paint as I've never seen it. Was hoping for a nice dull, dark gray and got it.
Next I sprayed up the pieces from Club 5. Tamiya Fine primer in light gray then Matte Black TS-6. This was to try and match the fenders a little. Kinda worked too :ror:. Put a few coats of both on to soften some of the 3D printer lines and marks. This stuff was too detailed to sand much and didn't really need it as it is armor and stuff. OK call me a hack . Put everything together with a boatload of screws and nuts. Made me wish I was 1:10 scale with a tiny air wrench. Fingertips are still sore.
I added a couple of green LEDs for a night vision effect. Sort of worked. Wanted an ominous glow from the interior and got it. I cleared the windows with %20 nitro fuel. Put one LED in the top hatch.

Now for what you really want... pics! I work in a spare bedroom with a bunk bed. Vehicle is on bed with cats "thumbsup".

I had it out yesterday on a sticky, muddy dirt pile my friend has so it is still a little dirty even after a bath. Rolled it and crashed it good. Everything held up fine.

@ Bignut- I noticed the 30/30 before I noticed the Tactical trx4 lol. Love the orange D110. Posting cause I'm a long time dog person recently converted to a cat guy after the adoption of our little feline rescue, Jaida. Cats are awesome!

@ Rusty Taco... Absolutely LOVE that Comanche!

My brother and I rescue and foster cats. I live in the woods and fields and we manage a spayed/neutered outside cat community as well. We also have a number of cats inside as a result of all this. You will be seeing more cats lol.

That 30/30 is a lovely 1944 Winchester Model 1894. I cleaned it and smoothed out the action for a friend. It is a very nice example. It is coming up on rifle deer here. I don't hunt anymore but I'll eat 'em lol.

I unpacked it!!! Not a brand new TRX-4 Defender but a lightly used one I found on Ebay. All works fine and I am a very happy chappie. The plan was to use this rolling chassis for another build, but I think it may have to stay as a defender and my TRX-4 Sport KIt may have to be re-invented with a new body.....

New paint job! Waiting for the sticker set and LEDs to arrive. I’m a sucker for a brown on tan square body. Very happy with how this turned out.

Ooh yea. I really liked it after I saw the metallic brown in the last photo. The bumper looks great too!

I have MyTrickRC setup coming today. I have been needing some lights!

I added some Traxxas detailing to this Asiatees hardbody, which I’ve hacked and finished in an AMG G63 styled flavor
