What did you do to your TRX-4 today?

Had these 1.9/4.7 wheels when I originally purchased/built up the trx4sport before I put the big tires on and chopped that body(green). So started on another body (yellow) to match the 1.9 wheels. Going to go for more of a detailed scale look on this body/wheel combo, not even close to being done but its a start...Again used Rustoleum 2X painters touch "bonds to plastic" paint. Will see how it holds up compared to rc car specific paint.

Now I have 2 setups...my thought is the Green chopped body w 2.2/5.7 wheels is great for big chunky boulder crawling, and the yellow stock body with 1.9/4.7 wheels will be used for slickrock type crawling with steep slabby climbs and sidehilling.

Both setups work great with slight trade offs ...will be fun to mix it up.

Is Photobucket still charging outrageous prices or did they get flamed so bad that they backed off their pricing?

not sure i had an account from a while back and it the very basic one, almost maxed out, not sure if they charge for new account or not...

BTW - anyone have any experience with the STRC brass? Considering ordering this set-up for the Sporto. I like the fact that it already comes in black!

I noticed that LockedUpRC is now selling a package deal of his black oxide heavy steel TRX-4 front end parts - it's a small savings over them bought separate, BUT - the parts are already priced pretty good:

TRX-4 Black Steel Portal Package

I wish SSD made a full setup, as I like their portal covers - but perhaps bumpers, wheels, and servo horn from them is enough?

;-)

The LockedUp kit was the other stuff I was looking at durok. I went and ordered the Samix stuff today though. Reviews here were all good and the fit and finish look pretty sweet from what i can see. Now it's hurry up and wait since it's on backorder status. No worries though, plenty of other stuff to work on.

More like what have I been doing this last week and a half.. Still have much to do but as it sits right now this is my chassis setup..Hacked down everything or deleted to save as much weight as possible.
The forward mounted shocks added more travel-articulation and are actually much shorter than stock, 76mm from eye to eye.. Almost like they were made for this style setup. The dampening is ever so slightly slower than the stock shocks but adj oil wt I will fine tune.. Mounted in existing frame holes with a bit of hacking on the plastic trays.
Hitec 7954 servo aluminum horn
HH 550 45t
Tekin FX-r esc w castle bec set to 7.4
Cut stock tires and treped with a dremel.. They feel very gripy!!
Flipped bumpers
Trimmed body
Spaced sliders up 14mm and drilled new holes to narrow them in 6mm from stock and shaved them down
1500mah 3s batt
OD UD axles
9t pinion 45t spur
Ill get more pics up soon

Had a little time to kill last night, so I went ahead with tucking the rear bumper a bit tighter for better departure. Moved it in just under 1/4" by lopping off a bit of the chassis rails out back. Room to go further if I need to, but i'm taking how the bumper meets the body / looks in to consideration as well. Hits the body lines just right on the Commanche and Sport body as it sits now. "thumbsup"

Got out for a quick session during lunch. Pretty amazed at how much moving that rear bumper in increased departure. Stuff it was previously dragging and hanging up on during drops/departures it was skating right over. Always satisfying to have such an easy/free modification yield such big results!"thumbsup"

Mounted up the narrow, inner fenders last night. Man do they fit nice. The RTR Sport body sits perfect on them. I had to do a little trimming on the grill and lower headlight area on the Commanche body though. I also had to ditch my rock light bar on the Commanche. The way it was mounted and how the body needs to sit had it interfering with the inner fenders. Not a problem since I have mounting points for rock lights in the inner fenders now! (BTW - Anyone running these direct off Rx power, or do they have to be steeped down to 3v to not get fried? Really not digging the Traxxas Dc/Dc converter set up.)

Anyway, found a new use for the rock light bar from the Commanche on the Sport body. Mounted it up behind the stainless mesh grill - turned out pretty cool. "thumbsup"

Cool idea for the light bar. Which light bar did you use?

Thanks B-MOW -

It was the upper cab light bar for a Losi Baja Rey. I didn't like it because the way they brought the leads in, it offset the LED's within the light bar. In other words, when the light bar is mounted and centered on a vehicle, the left side LED is all the way at the end, and the far right LED is in about 1/4", so it always looked kinda goofy to me when it was lit as they were offset versus centered.

But, installing it in a situation where there is a reveal, I.E., my cut out grill, I can offset it to get the lights centered behind the reveal."thumbsup"

Awesome, thanks. Yeah mounted in behind the grill looks good and I would have never known about the offset.

I just noticed you painted the bedliner down around the grill to the bumper. Really like that also. And adding the steel mesh looks way better than the sticker grill. I may try something like that with mine as well.

One more question...

What brand of bumpers did you put on it? Really like how the front bumper looks. I just bought the front & rear Sport bumpers, but not sure if I like them that well. Will use them for now till I find something better.

I ended up finding these on FleaBay. I looked at a bunch of different ones from Werty, SSD, etc. Just didn't care for the looks of any of them. (Great products, but most of them seemed Bronco or Defender specific) I can DM you the link to these if you want. Just lemme know."thumbsup"
