What did you do to you SCX-10 today?

Swapped in some Axial metal links on my stock Deadbolt. Ordered some SSD upper links so go with a single piece link vs the 2 piece Axial. A stage 1 kit for the axels and some MIP driveshafts too.

I put together a backup transmission.
Vanquish case and gear guard
SSD steel gears
48p style Axial slipper clutch system, but spur gear used is Robinson Racing steel 32p 58t
Gmade steel pinion

Is anyone running 2.2's on their Honcho? Any mods needed other than scissors? I'm thinking about building some new links to extend the wheelbase, maybe just the rear but I'll have a look at both. Anyone have an idea on the performance of the Honcho with an extended wheelbase?

Received some BFG's on Methods for the upcoming overhaul. Turning the Deadbolt into a Subaru XV Crosstrek.

Finally got around to upgrading my bone stock Deadbolt. Basic (for now) Axial metal link kit, SSD Pro Steering kit. Took advantage of an unseasonably warm, 60 degree February day in Minnesota, to thrash it in a makeshift mud pit [emoji90]

Put in a custom set of rock lights I've been meaning to get around to. All the lights hook to a 3S direct HeyOK light controller. Also stuck in a Brodie figure as a driver...

This is after wiring but before mounting happened...

I finally got a dirt bike, yes it is small but i wanted to keep potential rollover damage to a minimim. I also scored some Vanquish XD series wheels

2.2" RC4WD Mudslingers fit fine on my G6 without mods. I think the Honcho has better body clearance, so probably ok.

I'm running Vanquish .475 SLW hubs on SSD 2.2" steel wheels -- to keep the tires from rubbing on the shock springs at full steering. I missed getting the width right on the first try and the truck would do cartwheels every time I took a corner. Oops!

Super stoked with the results, and really can't wait for the body to come in. :D

Definitely need to clean up the electronics though. And extend the battery leads.

Wheelbase ended up at 252mm, theoretically, I'll need to extend it 5mm to fit the wheelbase of the body, which is 257mm. But before I do anything, I'll need the body here.

finally got the Brazin Chassis installed!! went back to my old shocks(til i can find softer springs for Gmade XDs) ... still gotta build the hot racing Alum. tranny with steel axial gears... then get the body mounted, then get the new radio... Aaaagh!! it never ends!! "thumbsup"

That's a capable looking chassis! I wonder if it would work with a chassis mounted servo

I opened the box! :lmao: Brand new Deadbolt RTR brings me back into the hobby after 5 years of not having anything at all. My wife was nice enough to buy the ultimate combo from Tower Hobbies for my birthday (2 weeks early) It just made sense budget wise, she was able to use their easy pay to spread out the budget hit and I got everything I needed to get started again. Gotta say I was nervous about making the jump to Lipo after being in NiMH for so many years, but I think this 2s 5000mah battery is going to do me just fine. I'd post pics, but really... it's just a bone stock Deadbolt out of the box.

Of course this means I need to put in some extra overtime to pay off the Deadbolt and get her the Slash she's been bugging me about.
