What did you do to you SCX-10 today?

Drove it on the Bayshore trail with the family. Perfect weather. Beautiful day on the bay.

Was going to go trailing yesterday, as was near 60* in MN- WOW!
Instead while doing pre run inspection, found the stock diff locker was finally letting the axle shafts slip in n out- FI LUNCHBOX time! Ended up throwing them in and servicing the axles n shocks instead of beating on it. Now it's ready for beatings!

Finished fitting a lot of new parts at 5am, then went and drove it 5 miles up a 1200ft hill with about 80% of it being thick mud.
I struggled more than the truck

I got my body finished and mounted on my Deadbolt RTR. Had to get a little creative with the front body posts. Rear are as high as they will go, and the front werent long enough. I took the extra "SUV" body mount, cut the lower adjustable portion off and attached it to the normal body post. The regular body post is now sitting right on top of the holder, which raised it high enough to make the body even. Yes, the body is sitting up really high, but I wanted a big lifted look to it.

After a nice mud bashing session (and not the best post-bash cleaning if I'm honest) my Deadbolt had a few locked up bearings and a crunchy sounding front diff. Out with the the old bearings and in go some new Fast Eddy's, new metal trans gears, incision outputs, incision spool/locker with the new diff gears. Stock drive shafts are still holding up but I have a set of MIP's on standby.

Mine's getting a total makeover. I got 80% of a cage done today. Now to finish the body and wiring before the warm weather kicks in.

I lengthened my upper links by about 10mm to get rid of the angle from the diff on the prop shaft thus eliminating an awful lot of wear.my diffs now are leaning forward about 10 degrees but nothing that makes a difference. This really is a top tip.

Well after 3 yrs of ham fisted, thick skulled, drool induced giggling- I finally smoked the stock plastic internal tranny gears on my G6 kit! Rather impressed - 3s, Rock 412 2300 kv and G2 RX8, stock slipper and set to manuals recommendations- can't believe they survived 3 yrs of that kind of power, have to say I got my $$ worth outta those lil suckers! No looking back axles are already built to handle the power and strain, now time to build up the tranny!

Time to upgrade!

Stripped the gears in my stock G6 kit transmission. The skid plate mounts in the stock transmission case were also weak / close to stripping.

Replaced with HD steel gears + an aluminum case.

The stock lockers might be next -- growing a ton of slop in both axles.

Took my "sleeper" Deadbolt to the scale trail area outside my LHS yesterday. Guy who works there was shocked to actually see me running one of my rigs rather than endlessly building. I'm impressed with this little truck.
