Upgraded Shocks For Axial SCX10

I am running integy 98mm with 20w front 30w rear. Sits a little higher, but the clearance is nice. Mine was set to crawl and is still setup in progress, so I may raise them up slightly not sure yet.

I just put on some internal spring G Made TS 02 scale shocks. They come with two sets of internal springs, a soft and a stiff. I installed the stiff springs and now when I collapse the shocks and then let go, the front of the Jeep bounces up and down. Like a 1:1 car would that didn't have any shocks. I'm going to try the soft springs tomorrow and if it still does it, they will go into the junk pile. The shock bodies are very well made, come in a stainless steel color, look great, but I need them to not only look scale, BUT WORK.

I just installed 100mm King shocks on my Honcho, I run them in my Wraith and I live how they preform. They're soft so they compress easier for me on the rocks.

I used Revo 12mm bore GTR shocks on mine with yellow (4lb rate) Jato front springs. With the #1 pistons (biggest hole) and 15 wt oil the dampening is a little stiff but the spring rate seems right. I'm going to try to drill the pistons a little bigger. They have a tad more travel than the stock shocks but are a little shorter over all. I un-screwed the rod end 2-3 threads and the length is now perfect.

Edit 5/21: I drilled the shock piston holes out to 1/16" and now it works great.

What mods were needed for them? I'm about to order a set this week for my rig. Just want to know whats going to be needed when they get here.
Well I kept having problems with rollovers because the stock set-up was too stiff and these are a little taller than the shocks that came with the Honcho. I purchased the softer springs directly through Junfac because I couldn't find them anywhere else. The shock fluid that come with these was way too thick so I'm using TLR 15wt. I never installed the rubber bumpstops so that I could get more articulation. In order to get the same ride height as the stock Honcho I inserted (2) o-rings underneath the shock piston in order to inhibit the down travel a bit. This brings the shock to 90mm like the stock Axail's. The key is to get soft with these which is tough because these are big bore shocks, meant for 1/8 scale buggies and monster trucks. They work on the SCX10 though and I'm much happier with them now.

Good thread. Been thinking about this as well. I'm not happy with the stock shocks, still seem too stiff. I have a set of ax10 shocks I might thiw on there to see if I can save money, just need to break them down and clean them and slime the seals.

Love the video of the inboard shock mount. I was looking at those. How do you like it?

on stock 90mm shocks
Who has ax30200 and ax30206 how is it ? And
Ax30201 and Ax30206 how is it ?

if the truck, or at least the shocks are newer, i would give them time to break in first unless you are running a very light rig. if you feel like they are too stiff and you've been running them for a while and know they are not binding, then i would say try the ax30206. i wouldnt mess with the uppers since they are already softest available.

i run stock ICON shocks with stock springs, ax30200 uppers and ax30207 lowers until i get the rebuild done

like posted earlier (way earlier) i wanted to run the Old Man Emu's from rc4wd, but testing with the Ultimate Scale Shocks i have on hand thats out. they support the weight similarly to stock but have zero dampening to them

Yer thanks I just find the shocks to be stiff with not much compressing so I wanted to see how the soft shocks go
