Tubing my tundra

Skipped tube work to lay some paint. Had our painter mix my up a color that I thought would look amazing on here. Played it down and it looks nothing like the color I wanted [emoji853] it looks very plain missingstay missing metallic in it. but its OK ill have to see how it looks once the clear is completely dry before I make any judgment if it'll stay. It was free paint so I cant complain either way.
No clear just primer and base coat.

Thanks for posting this build. I might just get up the nerve to try something like what you've done. Is the brake line you use the plain steel type? I'm asking because the galvanized type gives off some noxious fumes when heated up.

Its coated with some stupid stuff that from what I've heard is toxic. I sand down all the coating where I'm joining them and I don't get any fumes that way. I wish I could get plain non coated stuff would be way less time consuming

Maybe a little metallic in the clear? Just thinking, no experience with it.

From my short time working in a bodyshop I'm willing to bet the orange that I wanted is whats called a tricoat color. Meaning I would have needed 3 separate layers of paint and or clear to get the desired look. Not sure tho.

Well I've decided to leave the paint I've got an idea for it that might work out. Put the body back on the truck and like it the way it is. Just going to have to braze up some sliders and call it good for the cage work. Still need to mount my fairlead on the bumper and some other odds and ends before I drive this one.

Bent up some sliders got them tacked on to where I need them. Before I finish braze them off the truck. Eventually Ill cut my original body mount/tray and make the body mounts on the sliders but for now this will work fine.

Redesigned my fuel cell. I actually picked up a 3d printer so this should be a lot easier to make parts now [emoji6]

Tinkered more with the 3d printer and made up some light pods for the sliders and rear brace that doubles as a spot to mount the beer cooler. You can’t wheel without beer [emoji6] waiting on a few more parts. Need to try and get it done for the last comp I’ll be attending this year around here.

I got some big bores on today. Also finished printing fender wells for the Jeep body and proceeded to hack them up to fit under the tundra body. Finished up the rear taillight wiring. All that is left is to sandblast the cage and paint it. Almost ready to rock
