I built this a little while ago on SBG, this is the same as that thread.

I modified this New Bright Rc body to fit my old tired Scx24 a while ago but never got around to making a sufficient mounting system, just using a velcro strap to hold it on.

And before you start notifying the military, no, the Russians have not bombed my workbench.

I am making some tube fenders/bumpers out of some copper tubing that I will solder onto some copper rocksliders.

The rear bit of tubing does not look very good at all but I am not very experienced with tube work. I will fill in the kink in behind the rear tire with some solder when I get to that stage.

I have ordered an esc to replace the stock esc that had seen a little too much salt water in it's lifetime.

I have quickly gotten past the soldering stage, so here is a couple of un-focused photos:

(This was done with a soldering gun, which future me will not do again since all the joints were very weak)

I started brush-painting the cage with acrylic because if I took it off to spray it, I would probably break the cage for the 3rd time. (I am not confident in the strength of the joints)

I also lost half of the stock rear driveshaft, so I made one out of some spare bits because I am cheap and don't feel like buying another driveshaft.

I scraped a little spot out so the "seat mount" can stick to a solid surface.
IMG_7612.JPG

The seat mount is literally just a chunk of kindling with a bit of tube to hold the bottom of some seats from an old model Corvette.
I sanded the mount smooth after this photo.

This might be a future project!
IMG_7615.JPG

I made a shifter and put the t-case shifter on the esc shrink-wrap. You will soon see why the shifter is extended backwards.
IMG_7616.JPG

When I was modifying the stock esc tray I accidentally cut the integrated shock mounts off, so I drilled holes and mounted them directly to the chassis. (I also chopped the faux reservoirs off)
IMG_7617.JPG

I took a steering wheel off another model and modded it on my "lathe".
IMG_7618.JPG

I squashed the end of the steering wheel flat and mounted it to the chassis.
IMG_7620.JPG

I also took the stock battery tray and chopped it so I could mount the reciever.
IMG_7619.JPG

I then took the exhaust off the same model I took the steering wheel from and modded it to fit.
IMG_7621.JPG

And finally, the reason the shifter and steering column were extended rearwards is because "Buns" and his colleague "Lenny" will be the occupants of this vehicle! (Don't ask how he uses the gas or brake)
IMG_7622.JPG

The body is in the "curing room" (cardboard box on top of waterheater) while the paint dries, it will be weathered with the salt method because I don't like nice trucks.

I got it weathered!

After this was taken I printed up the rear window surround to fill in that gap.
And, no, I haven't gotten around to making inner fenders for the bed.

I also painted the wires between the seats and the motor black so they don't stand out. (I made sure to leave a little bit visible so I know the polarity)
IMG_7624.JPG

Here is a overhead view to show how everything is laid out.
IMG_7628.JPG

And lastly, I got Buns and Lenny mounted up with some double-stick tape. I think they're ready!
IMG_7629.JPG

I also printed up a radiator support/front subframe thing that clips around the straight section of tubing behind it to hold the body on.
IMG_7630.JPG

I didn't get any pictures of the rear mounting system but it is just a plate that clips around the tubes that hold the rear bumper on.

And that's it!
Now I need to transfer some photos of it in the wild onto the computer.

My younger brother brought his diecast body swapped Scx24.

Benny borked it.

On the right is my other friends Fxc24M that he repainted and modified to look like some lunar thing.

It has been performing well except for the fact that the sliders stick out to the sides a little too much for tight, technical spots.
Rocks have scraped a ton of paint off of it though!

New username to me. Welcome to the site!

That is a much better build than I can do. Looks like a fun rig. Thank you for bringing it over from SBG!

Fun lil rig you have there.
Thanks! It is pretty fun!

Thanks for the welcome!

Now that I have driven it for a while now, all but two of the soldered joints have broken! I think this is because the soldering gun didn't heat the copper properly, next time I will use a torch!
