TrailFinder 2 from Alaska!

If you had to get rid of one truck, which one would you keep? Tf2 or scx10?

I'm thinking about getting back into crawling and not sure which way I want to go. I've had lightly modded scx10 and a heavy modded wraith, these tf2's just look like a blast
Honestly? I'd keep the TF2. With the Scx10 everything seems so much easier... That it becomes kind of boring... I don't really rock crawl and only really do trailing so maybe that's why. I love the challenge that comes with the TF2. Its also fun seeing the scx10 guys become surprised when they see the little TF2 pull the same lines as them. I also love the scale realism of the way it looks and drives [emoji106]

To be honest, I've even already given out my scx10 jeep to my little brother so that shows which one I'd choose [emoji6]

Not to steal the question, but my opinion on the matter.....

Stock/lightly modded i would probably keep the tf2.

Moderately/heavy modded i would keep the scx.

Why?
- - Not much changes with the tf2 no matter what you do IMHO. Ive done alot to my tf2 but its still recognizable as a tf2.
- - scx, however, has much more areas to change. The only thing stock on mine is trans gears, frame rails, crossbraces, shock hoops, and some of the links. It could really only be called an scx because of the frame rails honestly

I think now that ive got a hilux bodied scx i may get the D90 or D110 body for the tf2
EDIT: lol AK beat me. The tf2 will make you a better scale driver.....or prove you should get into U4 or rock bouncing....

Scx10 definitely has more variety and options. The chassis just seems more versatile. In fact I'm planning to build another FJ and I'm going to be using my scx10 to do so.

Sorry, had to chime in on this one too ;-). I'd certainly keep my TF2 if I had to choose. Mainly for the reason AK mentioned, it's requires a bit more skill to take the TF2 places an SCX10 would go with no problems, and the TF2 looks so scale doing it. This was my first trail truck, having wanted the Tamiya Bruiser when I was very young, so I suppose I'm a bit biased. I LOVE my SCX10's too, because every truck has it's limited crawling and trailing capabilities, even the SCX10, and pushing them to that limit is a blast no matter what you're driving. Just something about the leafed TF2 that has to work just a bit harder to accomplish an easier task for the SCX10 that draws me too it. Not to mention the wow factor you get from others as AK mentioned.

Awesome video! TF2 seems like it can hold it's own! "thumbsup"
Broke my heart at 16:49 Hope it's still okay!

The TF2 did pretty good! But I was getting a lot of body roll as you can tell. And the TF2 is okay! I did lose a rubber mirror tho. Lol!

Okay so I thought I was pretty much done with the truck but since it's my favorite truck, every time I look at it I get to thinking those, "what if" questions...

I've been debating for a while if I should chop the front bumper all the way to the grill (for a more trail dedicated rig look) and was committed to do it this morning but.... I tried to see how it'd look if I just chop the lower front valance off first...

And voila! I think I like this better for now. I realized that if I chop the bumper all the way to the grill, the servo and motor would show and that would be pretty lame...

Anyways, onto phase 2!

Also installed some new shoes!

And here's pictures with the valance chopped off:

And the other yota gets the mud thrashers. Which is exactly What I had wanted for that build.

Looks great! Like the FJ too "thumbsup"
Thanks man! And yeah I'm loving how the thrashers look on the FJ as well. For once I got two builds happening at the same time that I'm actually happy about! Usually one would be sacrificed for the sake of the other lol.

I know all to well! I have two going myself and a third in the distance.

They look awesome together! Always have been a fan of the FJ. "thumbsup"

Happy New Year to all the scalers, and crawlers alike.

It's not much but here's my little light show from the Yota's!

Okay guys I'm undecided as to which way this build is going to go so I need some opinions on this one.

A part of me wants to chop the front all the way up to the grill for a more trail dedicated truck rather than the mild rig I've been going for...

So I photoshopped some pictures to see how it might look and am going to ask for a vote pretty much.

Keep it the same? (Left side)
Or chop it. (Right side)

Go!

2 points that aid my thoughts.
1 - with that tube style bumper it will appear too open on the front.
2 - if you stick with 4.19" or less tire then all that open space is just overkill.

I've always been a big fan of the front bumper and lower valance, but I'm a scale nut who likes the factory look so I don't count

I vote chop it off, I've always thought that the chrome bumper behind the tube bumper was strange. I cut mine off before it was ever mounted.
