TORRCC Challenge- Aug 4, Topeka

Basically, I would hate for the weather man to be wrong and we miss a perfectly good opportunity to crawl, but I would equally hate dealing with the rain. In my opinion, it sounds like it should be up to the event organizer?:flipoff: Though, if it were me, I can't say I'd chance it...

I suppose the info I'm looking for is if you are still willing to come with the forecast what it is?

I'll make the decision later in the day and post here and on the facebook page as well as letting the hobby shop owner know.

If it does happen and it rains we will run as much as we can in between the hard stuff.

I want to crawl but I dont want to be miserable doing it. If you think it will be too treacherous than I suppose it is not worth it.

I don't think it will be too dangerous. The only area that would be somewhat tough to get up is the hard hill climb.

With the forecast as it looks I'm still 100% willing. Light rain won't be an issue, I just don't want to be miserable.

The trail itself holds up to mountain bikes in the rain without getting soggy. That won't be an issue other than clogging your tire and boot treads :) It sounds like people are willing. Nearly the entire trail is covered by trees too. At this point I think it is still on. I will make a final decision around 7PM tonight so be on the look out.

Well all, the locals on the facebook page aren't waterproof and don't want to get wet. I think my best course of action for a good turn out is to postpone the competition until next Sunday the 11th. The weather is supposed to be cloudy in the AM and sunny in the afternoon.

With that being said, I know some of you can't make it and were really looking forward to wheeling in Topeka tomorrow. I am going to be at the trail at noon and am happy to wheel with anyone who shows up. We will run the whole course weather permitting and I will have a few items to give away to those stalwart folks who make it out to play in the rain.

I apologize if you get left out due to the change. Damn the KS weather. I did manage to go out and count the amount of trail markers I'm going to need today. I came up with between 160 and 180. The whole walk, from start to finish took about an hour without a scaler... just walking.

I hope most everyone can make it out tomorrow or next week.

Be sure to get plenty of pics, next weekend I will be in Beloit. Dad and I are going to scout some new trails as the old ones are probably under water.

All of our events are beginner friendly. Above all we try to be as welcoming and helpful as we can, furthering the hobby is the ultimate goal:)
sounds good lookin forward to goin but dont know if i can make next week got a dirt oval race at checkerd flag but may come out tommarrow for a fun/practice day my stuff is waterproofed if it is not a downpour i should be there .

What doc said is correct. I'll also add that the ridge rest was made for this type of event. Your Exo Terra will have a good time on the trails but some of the more difficult terrain is going to be virtually impossible for it since it doesn't have locked transmissions. It can be pulled over some areas with a tow rope but the rocky areas are going to be near impossible for it. It would be a great rig for the free run after the event where the group will be exploring the 7 miles of trails that Dornwood provides. We hope to see you on Sunday!!
thanks for the imput kind of what i was thinking use the exo to play on trails and the ridgecrest to compete in events my ridecrest will also check out the link u posted thanks alot and hope to seee ya at the event if i can make it maybe tommarow for a fun day at the trail

The next event (for TORRCC) isn't planned at this time. Be sure to check the calendar thread in this forum for upcoming events all across Kansas!

I'm gonna do everything in my power to show up next weekend! Just gotta hope I can afford the gasoline to get there
