TLT with TTB

It'll have TLT shocks all around, mounted behind the springs like the 1:1 TTB uses. Now that the body's here, I've got the rear leafs placed on the frame (still need to make the shackles) and the paint soaking off in some brake fluid. I'm thinking red/white two-tone or solid red for this one, and the other one (there were two bodies in the eBay lot (bobtail, if you're Gary A you already know this)) will become a desert racer on a TA02 chassis.

I'm still not sure if this one will use the rollbar or not.

Now just make it look broke down. Then it would really look scale. Like prop the hood up and have smoke rollin out. LOL Anyway looks good.

It is high in the pic. Now that the leafs are set I've checked the travel on everything, and figured out where the arches need to be. They'll sit about an inch above the tops of the tires.

Whoever painted these bodies did one hell of a job; almost 24 hours in brake fluid and it's only beginning to soften.

I like it sitting high like that. Looks like the kid dowm the street who bought a lift and is saving for the tires and wheels!

Looking good goat!8)

After 24 hours in brake fluid and some scraping, I've got this mess. A bit of lighter fluid will take care of the rest, but getting the paint out of the nooks & crannies will be fun. Rush it and the paint job will look like crap. Anyway, the rear body mounts are set, but the shackles aren't done so the rear end is a little low. Add another 3/8 to the back end and you'll get an idea of where it's gonna sit.

I'm kicking around the idea of using a laid-down stock TLT tranny for this one. The chassis is wide enough, and it's a street truck so there's not a lot of torque. No lathe motor or outrunner power or 2.2's to shred the belt, and it frees up a Pede tranny for a more rugged project down the trail. Plus I have one gathering dust. I'll see how it fits in the chassis; I still like the idea of the hanging Pede, though.

Thanks for the compliments. Looks like Pede power after all. While the TLT trans will fit, barely, it makes the rear driveshaft angle all wrong. The front is a straight shot, but the rear comes out all goofy. With a Pede in there, both are offset a little bit.

Can't say I'm looking forward to stripping off the rest of the paint, but it's gotta get done. Maybe if I throw some singles at her she'll strip for me?

Looks awesome...definately different from all the other builds.8) Can't wait to see it finished and running!

As for stripping...brake fluid and fine steel wool. Takes a while, but turns out real nice in the end.

Cole, that's exactly what i did. It'll come off now that the paint's nice and soft. But I sure like painting new bodies a lot better

The body responded nicely to a combination of brake fluid, Easy-Off and old-fashioned elbow grease. It's ready for paint now  I was going to lay down the white, but discovered I was out. So, I made some shock mounts instead. The front end is all buttoned up now, and the rear just needs the shocks done. I'll attach the shocks to a crossmember like a 1:1, maybe even staggered.

Here's a progress/flex shot. This is the final body placement.
