The "Just shut up and build it" thread...

Sleep deprivation, alcohol, nicotine and energy drinks...

Add some "controlled substances" and you are an 80's rockstar!

NO alcohol here, my friend - unfortunately it doesn't go well with certain meds I gotta take (for the rest of my life!) - so those days are long gone...

It's Ok, I did that 80's rockstar lifestyle in the late 80's through early 90's. "thumbsup"

(Probably was self-medicating, but who knows?)

This high I'm on is nearly as good, tho'...

(still workin' on the build as we speak!) ;-)

Like I said, once inertia is overcome you're a machine!! :lmao: You can sleep when you're dead.

You're going to love it, I promise. But I can imagine it's going to be a wild ride on 4S!

Good luck with the patches. None of it worked for me until I switched to vaping seven years ago and never looked back.

Looking forward to seeing the finished masterpiece and video! I'll get some video of mine up when it's running again but it's bone stock, so...meh.

I smoked for 30+ years, quit cold turkey for a couple or three years, started up again when I stopped at a bar to numb the pain I was feelin' from a major dental procedure - and someone was smoking my brand... and now it's been a couple years and I'm smoking more than ever...

Right now I'm taking a short break in the build, I just fabbed up an ESC mount from the plastic 2-speed servo mount and a flat disc of metal I had - better weight distribution, as it is on the opposite side of the transmission from the motor and I hated the idea of sticking it on top of the receiver box. Routing some wiring next - trying to decide what to do with the dang power switch of the Mamba X...

Pics show plastic shifter servo mount and then my modded one, and then the fabbed plate - and then the other pic is it mounted up:

Yeah, if you don't need a servo there, it is a good place for the ESC! But not for me... I love my dual speed transmission...
Right now I have my ESC on the top of the receiver box, but I am thinking to move it in the front of the battery...

Oooooooo, the REEEEVOLLLLLLVER "thumbsup"

Dig that custom esc mount.... wink-wink-nidge-nudge ;-)

I tried mounting my esc on the radio box lid and did not like it, only place I could find to mount the power button was servo taping it to the back of the servo. I hated it so I utilized the shift servo location.....much better.

That Revolver on 4s is going to be wicked-crazy.....just don't break the rig on it's maiden crawl

My hobbywing 1080 is on the radio box and i was able to tape the power button on the spur gear cover.
I can press it with my fingers inside the cage.

Thanks for all the tips, guys - I obviously finally "hit a wall" and had to take a power nap!

I think I may loosen one of the tiny screws on the corners of the Mamba X and then screw it back in through one of the tiny holes on either end of the switch.

OK, gotta get back to it!

I am so glad to see this progress!

I can't image what would happen if he vaped. The research and trial and error that can come with vaping... That is a worm hole ole durok does not need to venture down! :lmao: Hope the patches work for him!

Whelp...

Damnitalltaheckandback...

I had it to the point of only needing the shocks attached at the top, and then body panels and wheels bolted up...

... but it turns out that the DluxFab Big Bore shock ends don't fit the Bomber front shock location - as a matter of fact if I had used stock rear upper shock mounts I would have realized it sooner, because they wouldn't have worked there, either!

Too wide!

I'm so damn annoyed.

Now, I have to build the Gmade shocks before I can finish it out, and it's already 2AM Saturday morning.

I have absolutely nothing that will fit inside the hard aluminum Traxxas Big Bore shock caps to use as a pivot point, not even nitro fuel line tubing.

They will work fine on the carbon-fiber railed chassis, but not for this build.

Breaking for some leftovers and then back at it...

The VP axles are that way too... the trusses have very restricted places for the shock ends...
The balls which comes with the Traxxas rod ends, are good fit for the VP axles... also, the original plastic balls from axial are easy to cut to size...

I told myself at the beginning of my build, NO PLASTIC BALLS! ("Mommy Dearest" reference...) ;-)

Because they wear out...

Traxxas steel balls work great, but they dont fit in the tops of Big Bore aluminum shocks - they are too big in diameter...

These Gmade shocks take a long time to assemble, but are actually incredibly well-engineered.

I'm a big fan!

I will be using hard springs and 40 weight oil in these.

Don't think I'll double up with the XtraSpeed shocks, either.

I'm 3/4th's done with them... "thumbsup"

They are awesome for the price. I had to file down the red balls for the shock ends.
They are a little wider than the stock axial balls.

I'm hoping they'll work fine in my SSD trailing arms and Hot Racing lower shock mounts... ALMOST there!

Mine were too tight in the hot racing upper and lower shock mounts and stock trailing arms.

I'm using Boom Racing BullRope aluminum upper shock mounts, they aren't dual shear - and the red alloy shock balls fit easily in the Hot Racing lower mounts up front and the SSD trailing arms - with a little room to spare... Now I just have to decide what upper balls to use - Ah, just checked out some spare SSD steel balls - just a hair loose in the shock caps and a hair snug in the plastic front upper shock mount!

Yay, 2nd set of shocks are finally done:

Sneak peek - battery is on the charger, radio as well - need to bind, set endpoints, put body panels on it and hit the dirt - I'm on no sleep again, and it's gonna be a scorcher of a day here in Austin - heat index is supposed to be 103! I'm gonna have to find some shade somewhere...

Looking good "thumbsup"

Love the wheels, I’m going with the all black version of those. How’s the track width with the included hubs ?

Can’t wait to hear how the revolver works in this.
