So this is what a Bomber looks like chopped to the waterline and stripped of sheet metal:
We all talk(ed) smack about weak Axial plastic, but try hacking the top cage off an RR10!
Anyway, I think this is going to work out better than I even originally thought! the body is just posed in place still but I really couldn't be happier how it sits.
I want to stay with an easily removable, lexan-type post body mount arrangement so I can use the original battery box. For the rear, there are a series of holes on either side of the fuel cell, for whatever reason, but one pair will make a good location for posts.
I don't mind pins in the bed too much. For the front I think I can make some brackets to mount to the shock mounts with a cross piece for a big chunk of velcro.
Some black and red Sharpies fixed up the torn decals pretty well!
Here's a scale shot for fun. My Orlandoo on top of this beast. :lmao:

All in all, I really couldn't be more pleased with how this came out. "thumbsup"
As planned, I used the existing holes in the cage for the rear posts that I scrounged from my stock. Carefully planned to have the holes aligned properly and at the correct height, and bonded ridiculously securely with CA glue and Insta-Set, Bondene and styrene strips added for rigidity. It didn't have to be pretty, it just had to be robust.
For front mounts, the chassis lent itself well to a modified version of my go-to hidden mount method. I usually mount a cross plate for the velcro to the front body posts...in this case I made vertical risers from the same dishwasher console donor material. These were CA glued/Bondened to the inside of the front shock mounts. They had plenty of surface to bond the risers to. I added styrene strip reinforcement to the riser/cross plate joints since they were butted, although it was likely unneeded. Velcro is heavy duty stuff from Wally World. Chassis placement mount opportunities were almost perfect for aligning with equally opportune body placement. I'm appreciating this fully as I know it will never happen again!

Thanks Mike! I was going to shoot the first run video after the recipient was gifted the truck, but he was just excited to be running it around the yard so I didn't really want to interrupt it.
I hope to get some video in the wild soon, whenever we actually get to go back to the wild

Runs really well. At the beginning, when the SCX10 had problems with the tree root, I figured the Humber was going to walk right over it, I was surprised that it got high centered. But other than that, it ran well, and didn't seem top heavy at all "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Haha...to be fair, it was the first time he'd run the truck out of the front yard and only the second time he'd run a "real" RC. But yeah, being a Bomber it could drive a lot better than he could.
The 10 year-old grandson was on the OG Honcho...he has a lot to learn about geometry and lines too! :ror:
