--- The Crawler Innovations XR-10 Build --

Very nice. I used to run the Cougars on my LCC when I had it and they always seemed to work well. By the looks of your video you've got them performing great. I would surely try Cougars again if you come up with a good foam setup or them."thumbsup"

Thank you for the kind words.

Still have a set of cougars in the tire bin. They were great back in the day.

SVEN was running some not to long ago at a rainy day comp. They worked pretty good for him.

If all goes well, you may have a reason to pull those cougar tires back out.

Knowing that SVEN was using them at a comp only confirms the reason to re-test & tune with them. Thanks for the info.

Clapped, siped, and grooved soft compound panther cougars. I have a couple packs on them so far and it's been interesting. Our weather is humid with some occasional rain and the rock traction has turned terrible.

Nice Eddie! Personally, I would lower your truck some after switching from the Panthers..."thumbsup"

Here is a video compilation of the Crawler Innovations XR-10 testing the
Ottsix VooDoo Tire in the Gold Compound

As tested,
the crawler weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce RTR,
the bead locks are 1.35' VP SLW's,

Wide Inner - Soft Outer = Front;
Wide Inner - Medium Outer narrowed 2" width = Rear.

Filmed at the Crawler Innovations Compound in Tyler, Texas.

S'up Eddie? 8)

Looking forward to your full results and opinions on the Voodoo/foam combinations. That way I'll know exactly what to order here in the very near future. I hope you gots big shipping boxes:twisted:

I take back my earlier statement....it looks like your truck is working pretty damn well with that setup! "thumbsup"

Yeah that "monster truck" setup probably helps a lot on his rock course with all of the breakovers and such. Glad to see some activity in your comp threads recently Eddie 8)

Curious to see what foams you like the most. Love the choice of old school hip hop by the way. "thumbsup"

The biggest drawback to tall tires, especially in the super soft compound. :-(

Yep, you really gotta watch those knuckle screws/nuts. I snagged one on my sporty and it ripped the glued tire off. I quickly went home and messed with the hardware to get it all out of the way...

That is too bad. Why put the vent holes in the sidewall in the first place? I was thinking about why some drivers were doing that. I would think placing the vent holes in the center of the tread would be a much better option for this type of tire.

That sucks.. Doesn't look like it started at a vent hole, but its a little too vented now!

I can see it did not start at the vent hole. I was asking Eddie what the reasoning behind venting on the sidewalls was.

Sweet! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Voodoos!

1/4" too tall
1/4" too wide
Gold Compound = Slowed Crawled sandstone and iron ore like I have NEVER experienced or seen before. I am truly impressed with tire design and compound over all.

Nah, I use one set up for everything. It's the only way to consistently track changes and characteristics while testing. Build one truck that is average at everything and learn to drive that truck amazingly.

Yeah it's a monster truck in that pic.

S'up Steve! Love the avatar buddy, it definitely fits you my brotha"thumbsup"

I will be keeping track in my log book. When you are ready, let me know.

 Thank you sir.

Thank you Ryan. Your DD build is inspiring and your hunger to keep competing is infectious. Thank you sir"thumbsup"

So far:

Front:
6.0 Double Deuce
Wide Inner - Soft Outer / No Tuning Ring
The inner has been modified to allow for more forward bite by channeling. Please visit Szczerba's build for a rough idea of what I am talking about and how you can mod your own:
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/enro...012-2-secret-agentd-3-5-bodiless-berg-18.html

I am working on new tooling for some new competition only style inner foams.

Rear:
6.0 Double Deuce
Wide Inner - Medium Outer narrowed to 2" width / No tuning ring
The inner has been modified to allow the outer to conform better by channeling the inner.

The video was the trucks second battery pack. The tires arrived Saturday afternoon, I had them mounted and on the rocks within two hours and was filming. The foams were New, not broken in. The tires were used by Kratos already and I installed them in the same pattern, direction, and orientation on my crawler. The front lugs were roughly 45% gone before I received them and had a nice beveled edge on the lugs.

I'm not certain what caught it. It is was on the front though and it happened during a rollover recover. I can't tell you how bad I want to cut n shut these tires right now. I need to test them on different width wheels though and it's the only set I have. Hmm... decisions, decisions.

That is too bad. Why put the vent holes in the sidewall in the first place? I was thinking about why some drivers were doing that. I would think placing the vent holes in the center of the tread would be a much better option for this type of tire.

These tires came pre-loved from Kratos and he vents the sidewalls. There is not a "right" way to vent tires. I personally vent the tire with a leather hole punch it in the middle on the tire on the tread. The idea that anything caught inside the tire (dust, water, dirt, etc) can exit out the breather at speed. I also have so many tires with sidewalls tears that any special venting wouldn't have matter. As long as the air can move freely so the tire can conform, you're all good"thumbsup"

That sucks.. Doesn't look like it started at a vent hole, but its a little too vented now!

Agreed:ror:

I can't tell you how bad I want to cut n shut these tires right now.

I've been waiting for someone to do that. I'd like to see these reduced and narrowed up slightly and put on a Rover sidewall...I just can't spend the coin to buy them and try it out.

Maybe Ottsix would be interested in seeing how they work in a slightly different size...Id love to give it a try also???
