Tekin Builds is my new show where I'll be building all the things and trying to make decent videos of the endeavors. My first build to be featured on the show is a Vanquish VS4-10 Origin Limited Black edition. So far it has been a fantastic build and I am really looking forward to running it this year. Episode 1 of Tekin Builds is now live, so check that out and check in here for more updates as I get the Origin put together and ready to rock!

Boxes of the good stuff. Tekin RX4, ROC412 2300kV and T-360 servo will live in the VS4-10.

Coolest kit box I have ever opened. I stared at this for an hour, it's so beautiful!

The Origin axles are my favorite VP axle now. Something about the offset front diff and the overall scale-ness just really sets the tone for this build. Spiral cut gears, VDI universals, removable diff cover. So much yes.

The ROC412 is a powerhouse and since the sensor board is coated, ain't care about water. I don't usually drive in much but if you want to, make sure you use the included grease in the sensor ports! All sensor ports are a weak point in "waterproof" systems....because nothing is really waterproof, but we do what we can to protect those precious electronics! The transmission is dialed, it is 100% metal with hardened steel gears and HD outputs. There's no slipper clutch, so hopefully our ROC412 won't break too many parts. I usually run a slipper and probably will end up with one. (I know, I missed a sensor wire in the clip on the back of the motor...already fixed!)

T-360 servo sitting pretty in the mount. The updated chassis braces in this kit are really nice and will definitely increase frame strength. So far so good, everything has dropped right together!

I put a similar powerful Brushless system in my Origin and was worried about the spur stripping but it's held up to quite some abuse. So far it's as good as new...still, I did buy 3 spares from Kimborough.

very nice... wanted mine black but did not want to wait for an overseas purchase to come in and the taxes that comes with it. so i opted to get one from a local dealer and it was clear one.

anyways, i ran the axe 2300kv on mine... but i really love tekin products, your build looks really cool.

i would toss the wheels and tires.... they are not my fav. tranny is beautiful but an old design.

looking forward to seeing this finished. i could not stop building mine, just took a few hours to assemble it.

"thumbsup"

Nice build write-up and nice pics. The VS4-10 is the best built kit that I have put together. I agree with v33, swap out tires and wheels. They were a pain to assemble. Had to trim the foams and put the tires in the freezer for awhile to get them mounted. And I like a little wider tire too.

Looking forward to the rest of your build.

I saw this build on Instagram, glad to see it made it's way here as well.

There is a nice, convenient spot for a Tekin servo winch, good thing you know some guys that could make it happen.

I'm working on that, since we can rotate 360 degrees it would just be a software change to enable a "winch mode". Hopefully I can make it happen!

Episode 2 of Tekin Builds is up! This truck has been such a pleasure to assemble. I've had zero snags, everything fits perfectly and I can tell driving it is going to be very rewarding.

T-360 in the servo mount. Just need to get the 20mm VP horn.

Mocked up fender liners. These attach very securely to the rock sliders and the frame. Very nice feature that should be a standard on all scale kits.

Tekin Builds EP.3 - Vanquish VS4-10 Origin Limited

Totally forgot to update with last week's episode, so here it is! I cover installing the RX4, a little bit of soldering, a couple quick settings like Voltage Cutoff, Motor Type (Reverse Type) and calibrating the ESC to a radio. I also show how to center our T-360 servo and set the End Points.

Episode 6, the trail run! I took the Origin out and braved the cold wind to see what it could do on my home trail. I went up 10wt in the rear shocks to 50wt and geared it down from 13T to 10T. Lost a bit of wheel speed but it still has plenty thanks to the 4S 2300kV setup. Very smooth and I really like wheeling this truck!

Decided to do a second body and cut the top off this time. Knight Customs rocks and all the parts for this mod fit perfectly! The cage is a must and the door cards, shift console, gauge cluster and switch panels all added some great detail.
