Team [HOONIGAN]'s DRX(s)

Oh I got the paint done and even ran it with the new body. But my computer is getting some warranty work done and I don't want to use my girls crappy camera and computer.

My computer should be back in a couple of days and then I will get some photos up.

Finally got my computer issues worked out. So I snapped a few photos today of the Lancia Stratos body, it needs some decals, but otherwise its good to go. Pay no attention to the broken light mount in the front, took it for a joy ride and slide into a car tire.:for:

That was a great video of the Hoon's

How are these holding up? I saw the first body looked kinda cheapy.

Didn't want to ruin the Stratos quite yet so I threw the Impreza back on and went for a spin.

sweet pic's

Are your guy's racing 1/8 class yet? I would think it would work well on your course.

Nope. Rodney and I are the only guys that have 1/8th scale cars so far. Plus they are too big for most of the tracks we have. I guess we could race one at a time trials, but that isn't nearly as fun as running the other guy off the track. :ror:

That's OK. I bet it fun bashing with your buddy.

What happen to your 1.1 Neon?

Nice write ups Turtle, I have been waiting for the release of the XV-01 but just read your thoughts of it and the HPI and it has me swaying toward the HPI now. One question though, with you DRX and it being 1/8 and the HPI being 1/8, what size battery do you use? 2S or 3S?

Sold it when my daughter was diagnosed with diabetes.

Thanks man.

The DRX is actually larger then the HPI, if you look in one of there earlier posts I have the dimensions listed for both. Anyway, for the 550 can Castle Creations 2400kv and mamba max pro running this rig I use a Turnigy 5000mah 3 cell, I had a 5450mah Max amps 3 cell and of course like all things Max Amps it went poof.

Never tried 2 cell, no need to with this set up, this rig is fast, has lots of torque and temperatures stay pretty cool.

With the HPI you ,might be in a different boat though, I have no idea how it is geared stock and I think I read it comes with a 4000kv motor. A set up like that might call for a 2 cell, I won't really be sure until I do a little more research.

RPMJ and I went and drove another back yard track today. Really fun and a nice thick layer silt on top of the dirt made sliding every corner really fun.

Oh and Rodney shredded a tire, but he continued to rally. Another fantastic scale moment with these cars.:ror:

Thanks again Paul your track is turning out awesome. "thumbsup"

Nice read!

Was nearly about to pull the trigger on the new 1/10 Tamiya XV-01. Then I stumbled on the HPI WR8, now I've stumbled on the DRX. Looks the goods, and I note you've only made 1 comment about breakage. I assume these things are pretty durable (I' obvioulsy looking at the Electric, not a Nitro converted machine). I've read all the good stuff. Is there any bad stuff that you want or need to share?

Great now I officially want one dang it... I saw the hpi. Kinda like the block flux but I really want to get the kyosho Evo vii body. Any one have that body?

Just the one stub shaft. I love this car, it drives really well, is really durable and IMO really scale in driving characteristics. Plus the scale of the car makes a lot more locations accessible for playing.

No one I know. We are subaru people, which means we don't do Lancers.

Do you have a part number for this shock tower?

Go to Kyoshoamerica.com and search DRX and then look in the parts category, some parts are cross over so they don't have a DRX designation, but they are there.

Welcome to Kyosho America

Since I had to go search for Brian I did stumble across a new body.
