So I started my Axial comp rig build, and this time, I'm doing a real build thread, unlike most of my others which end up being a built thread, as I get so wrapped up in building I don't stop to take any pics:lol:

Started off with a set of axial axles with all the goodies like:
HD gearsets
HD lockers
Aluminum knuckles and C's
CVD's
Straight axles/lockouts
and of course, some nice Axial tools"thumbsup"

My younger daughter Melody has shown an interest in crawling, and wanted to help out8-)...even in her PJ's with chocolate on her face(no I didn't bribe her):ror:

I'll be using Traxxas Big Bore shocks on my builds from now on

I really liked the Thundertech drivelines on my other cars, and will use them on this one. Peace of mind in that department.

I'll start off with a Hitec 7955TG set at 7.2V, but I may end up swapping in my trusty JR 8711 at 6V, as I've always been happy with them.

So, that is the beginning of the build, I'll have updates as I get more progress done on the car.
Big thanks to Axial, TCS, Vanquish, and Mr. JRH."thumbsup"

I'll bet her dad has taught her a thing or 2 about building crawlers.

Very nice! I really look forward to this build! I love seeing Axial/ Shafty builds, all I hear or see is MOA builds :(

Any partocular reason as to why you are gonna be favoring the big bore shocks from now on?

what is the advantage of running 7.2 volts for that servo over the 6 volts everyone says to....won't it kill the battery faster....subscribed "thumbsup" ........bob

....

more power

i'm sure it will have, but will it have an effect on battery duration over having the voltage set at 6 volts....i know it is only 1.2 volts higher setting....mine is set at 6 now and seems to have the power needed.............bob

Not going to be a huge amp draw difference from a servo. The higher voltage allows higher peak torque and higher holding torque. I know the Hitec's are not supposed to be affected by higher voltages, so why not get the extra torque. If it kills 2 minutes of run time....oh well

This is looking to be one reliable truck ya are building senior, axial has yet to leave me hangin. Im glad you are sticking to the shafts, those other trucks are, well ya know, and since i have a shafty and we have winter finals comming up i dont want you driving the el moco (all bergs) I agree with BinaryTerror, after a couple sets of losi crawler shocks, they have nothing on the reliability and consistant smoothness of big bores. i do miss the goopy, *****, snotty oil all over my axles and shocks from the losis though.

is that 7.2 set in the servo or the BEC setting....i have CC BEC and link if so, but i don't have a servo programmer.............bob

Less seepage = less rebuilds.
Bingo, although using certain types of grease extends the time, they do require constant weekly maintenance. I've been running the Bigbores for over a month now, and have yet to even think about touching them....no cavitation or mess yet8)

Ok...the million dollar question......what will you bolt all that Axail goodness to??:?::?:
Something I've never run before my friend....;-);-)

will this one be running on 4s lipo's also.:ror:"thumbsup"
:ror:Not anymore Gary, I'm running an Elite 2200mah, 35C(77amp cont) from Cheapbatterypacks.com, more power than anyone could ever need8)
